I was rifling through some old shoeboxes and I came across this drawing of a lake I wanted to build back when I was 17...23 years ago.

I thought maybe people here would appreciate it.  I thought about fishing all the time even back then.

Too cool.

At about the same age, I drew a lake that was designed for fishing from shore.  It consisted of cuts & channels, all of which were only wide enough that a cast could reach at least the middle.  Most of the structure & cover were offshore, to make it easier to cast and to land fish.  Unfortunately, I don't think I kept the drawing.

Would've been a wicked excavation bill what with the "abyss". You could have had a mountain to name after your cute girl.

I was like you. Except in Jr. High (way too long ago) I would always practice my autograph because I knew I was gonna a Bassmaster tournament angler.

I love how your lake's primary species is EVERYTHING.

Great post. Was not sure what I was opening. Neat stuff.

At 17 I could at least drive to where I wanted to trout fish vs. where someone was taking me.

That’s super awesome! I’m sure I had like thoughts at 17. My mom took my senior photos, all fishing related. Took a photography class, every picture was of a lure, rod and reel, or bass. Quit football to fish, lol. Thanks for sharing.

Yikes, I saw the title and thought it meant "dreaming ABOUT a 17-year old", I was like Man I hope his wife doesn't stumble on this one...

Cool drawing though, I would 100% fish that lake.

I could drive where I wanted to but for each species it was drive to a different spot for a certain species and I wanted a place that was diverse enough to hold them all but small enough it was easier to pattern.
