Hi members~

Its kind of weird question but if you had both dedicated frog and flipping rod, but can bring only one rod to do frog or flipping, which one would be your choice?

Would it make more sense to do frogging on flipping rod? Or flipping with frog rod?

I guess simply put which rod is more versatile despite being technic specific?

I don't have any 'technique specific' rods...I have rods that are multipurpose.

Stating that - my frog/flipping/pitching/topwater rig is the Fuego on the H/F Aird-X.

Frog rods are always F or XF it seems. Flipping rods can dip into the Mod end. This may be bc they are usually longer than frog rods, and the more moderate priced blanks just don't have the rigidity without build-up(?). There's an advantage to more moderate actions in flipping for casting accuracy. So, the choice is yours. If you feel you are plenty accurate -and not frustrated- with a F, XF rod, great. If not, maybe a more mod flipping rod would be better. I find flipping more demanding, accuracy-wise.

You really don't make a "cast" when Flipping vs pitching , ect...Here's how you pitch..

Thanks, Hammer 4. I think I was describing pitching, rather than flipping. Still, some flex in the rod can help with accuracy, but esp with pitching.

My 7'3" frog rod is designated as a flipping rod as an alternate technique. I would assume you would want a F to XF action on either for quick hookset and to work the frog.

I would say the frog rod unless your flipping/punching heavy cover. If your just spot pitching to docks or into moderate cover go with the frog rod.
