First post here as I was sent this direction hoping some of you experts could help me.

We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to purchase some rods from GLoomis for the fishing team. Mistakenly I thought this would be a simple choice of rod actions since I have been fishing for approximately 40 years. The problem started when I realized this particular company had way more choices of actions and I was used to dealing with. So basically here's a list of what I would like to have.

1  A good casting worm/jig rod that will be used around some medium cover types.

2  A good casting rod that might be used for spinner baits/chatter baits/etc.

3. A  good casting rod for all around crank baits.

4  A good all-around spinning rod  that might be used to fish small worms/Ned Riggs/small jigs

5  A good all-around spinning rod that might be used to fish drop shots, etc.

All of these rods are available to us in the E6X  lineup. It looks to me like the MBR series has an extremely limber tip section. I'm afraid this might cause problems with younger anglers, or maybe not.

Thanks for the help in advance......

Personally, I would go:

1.  7' H Casting (1/4-1oz rating)

2.  7' MH Casting (1/4-3/4oz rating)

3.  7' MH Moderate (I own this exact E6X rod).

4.  7' Med Lt Spin - This would be a good drop shot rod for #5 as well.

You can get technique specific but these would be a good start if I only had 4-5 rods to use.  I've owned several GL2, E6X and IMX generations of the MBR rods.  They are great all around rods.

I have the E6X 822 SYR Shakey Head rod.  It would be good for #4 on your list.  I also have the 820 DSR in IMX, which is a great Drop shot rod.  They make a similar one in the E6X series as well.

Is this team made up of experienced anglers, or folks without much experience? Equipment choices are very personal, and someone who has been fishing for more than a few years will most likely have strong preferences and biases. My suggestion is get one of each, and have the anglers decide. Of course if they are just getting started, they'll work with what they get and adjust as they go.

1. 853c jwr or 803/893 1/2 oz jigs with plastic is really pushing it! 3/8 ideal!

2. 843c MBR

3. 845c CBR 0-12ft range and lipless

4. 852s jwr

5. 822s dsr

Bonus 884c swbr for all heavier moving baits. Also could be used for punching/frog with braid. Very diverse rod and one of my favorites in the e6x lineup.  Mine is listed as heavy in gen 1 although gen 2 is mh with same lure weight??

For more overall diversity change 853c jwr for 844c mbr as mentioned before! Jwr rods are better bottom contact rods but have a tight lure weight range.

Honestly, the Loomis MBR rods are so universal that you could cover a ton of presentations with three rods:

783c

844c

822s

The only think missing is a dedicated crank/topwater rod, but that’s not where I would put money.

i have two E6X rods, the MBR 903 7'6 MH casting rod and the JWR 892S, a 7'5 M power spinning jig and worm rod that i actually use for all lighter spinning presentations.

both are great rods and i can do almost everything with two rods like this. they are very versatile.

What kind of discount are you getting and how did you get it?  My personal fishing team could use in influx of Loomis rods.

Thanks for the info guys, it really helps me a lot.  These kids are not new at fishing but they have never been able to afford anything but $50 rods or so.  I have some folks willing to help them and this just popped up out of the blue.  I was getting ready to order from another company and a was made this offer.  Either company would be great but my kids are pretty excited about this one.

I am going to try and order 3-4 and let them try them first.  Even if that is all we end up with it's better than what they have.

Don't know yet and not sure I would post it. This was just "one of those times" where I happened to be talking about something and the right person overheard me.

Abu Garcia has sold us products in the past.  You have to have a legit team, with proof from the school, but they are easy to deal with.  Lews has programs also but they are very, very limited and tough to get on with.

i will gladly amputate my left arm for a G. Loomis IMX Pro MBR903C and SJR902S if that helps.

Well these are E6X so the arm is safe ?

MBR taper is great for both the experienced and the inexperienced and may actually help the kids even more than the JWR XF tip would. I have quite a few Loomis rods and have been very pleased with both the MBR and JWR.

1  844 MBR or 893 JWR- A good casting worm/jig rod that will be used around some medium cover types.

2  843 MBR- A good casting rod that might be used for spinner baits/chatter baits/etc.

3. 845 CBR- A  good casting rod for all around crank baits.

4  852s- A good all-around spinning rod that might be used to fish small worms/Ned Riggs/small jigs

5  822s- A good all-around spinning rod that might be used to fish drop shots, etc.
