As a pond/small lake bank angler my whole life, what will be different about fishing big lakes? Obviously it will be harder to find the fish while i learn how to read electronics. What else should I know or what do you wish you knew when you first got a boat or starting fishing big lakes that you learned after experience? Ok, so all the great fisherman have given you all the juicy details on where to find fish I'm going to give you some not so standard advice. Life jackets and kill switches save lives - always use them Please do not block the ramp while getting your boat ready to launch 32 oz gatorade bottle is great for a bathroom bottle. Keep a roll of TP in a baggie for emergencies. Buy a lure retriever- I like the ones that have the chains attached as they seem to catch the hooks if the weight doesn't work. Waypoints are great but I still like using marker buoys for the visual aid. I have a ruler and a scale ready .... just in case I have to use the same process everytime when launching so I don't forget a step. I have mine broken down to a 5 point inspection- Straps > Motor Toter > Plug > Rope(2) (tied to boat and to trailer) I have failed to do all of the above at one time I also have a spare truck key hidden in the boat, because yes I have lost my keys in about 60 feet of water 3 Quote

Off shore weed line often indicate a structure like hump or channel ledge. Tom 1 Quote
