Not sure exactly what you're looking for in terms of structure (deep holes?), but my understanding is that the area of the river around the mouth of spring lake and the US 31 bridge is a good catfish haunt. If you're looking at an area that doesn't have contours, chances are it's pretty shallow or featureless. Upriver of Bur Oak Landing, where the dredged channel stops, its mostly a gently-sloping 5-10 ft deep trough, and there isn't a lot that's super-useful to map. This is been very useful thank you. Tonight after work I’m going to try the west side of the bridge in town. Looks to slope off to about 26 feet. Not sure if I can cast that far but I’m going to give it a shot. I’ll let you guys know how it goes. Quote
finatic Posted September 29, 2019 Author Posted September 29, 2019 Bought myself a new rig for my birthday - St Croix Triumph 8' 6" MHF pared with a Okuma Epixor XT 40 spooled with 20lb hi-vis yellow PowerPro. Caught a couple nice cats on this new setup already. Haven't had much luck with anything else. Caught some bluegill to use as bait, tried cut and live, but nothing on those. The cats above both bit on stink bait. Was going to try the new rig out on the pier for some salmon. Quote
