I'm gonna get a frogging and flipping rod and am lookin' into the slx rods, probably the 7'2" heavy, do any of you have experience with that particular rod? or the slx rod lineup in general? I think for the reel I'm going with the new slx xt...

I have the slx 7' mh fast...I also have the Diawa Tatula XT in the same size and power. I much prefer the diawa xt, although about 20.00 more than the slx, is much lighter, has better action, and just overall fishes better than my slx. I realize that Matt and Tim on tacticalbassin recommend the slx, but you have to consider that both are shimano fanbois, and very seldom include other brands more so in the reels than rods. Don't get me wrong, I like both of these guys, but I take some of their opinions on gear with a grain of salt.

I have the SLX 7'mh and the 7'2 heavy.  Both only cost $30 with the purchase of the slx and slx xt.  For the money, I can't complain.  I'm using the 7'2 for light punching/frogging with the base slx reel on 50lb. braid.  It's a great rod and it's sensitive enough.

I played around with the slx rods at academy, and I wasn't impressed at all.  I feel like the h20 express rods are more sensitive and feel better in hand.

I agree the handles felt like cheap plastic
