E-DOG Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I'm going to take the plunge into frogging and Flippin and need a rod, I'm looking at the dobyns fury line because I already have 2 and love them.. would the 735 be a good stick for those applications? Quote
ike8120 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I have one mainly use it for Froggin This is from Dobyns website PRIMARY TECHNIQUES: Flippin' / Frogs / Pitchin' / Small Swimbaits Quote
Mikeltee Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 If you have 2 then I dont need to tell you it's a broomstick. You can catch bass with line tied to a stop sign. Quote
Russ E Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 The 735 should work fine for frogs. Dobyns rods actually run a little lighter than most others for their ratings. I use the 735 for frogs and flipping heavy cover. I know a couple guys that use the 736 champion for frogs. Quote

Mikeltee Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I have the champion 736 for frogs and it would make a good flippin stick. With the sales still up you can probably get it for 200. Arguably the best frog rod in the game. Spend more for a contact rod > medium power. Quote
waymont Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 It would make a good frog rod. It's pretty balanced (a touch tip heavy) for a mag heavy rod. It's not great for walking a frog all day because it's a little heavy, BUT it's a good frog rod, great jig rod, great whopper plopper rod, great for 1-1.5oz glide baits, great chatter bait rod. I wouldn't call it a broomstick, I think it has a nice tip section for casting 3/8oz and up. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted September 3, 2019 Super User Posted September 3, 2019 I also have a Fury 735. Don't let the 5 power rating fool you, it has ample tip to fling or skip a frog and the juice to yard them out. It doubles as an effective pitching stick for heavy cover. 1 Quote
