Super User Bankbeater Posted September 2, 2019 Super User Posted September 2, 2019 Went out this morning for a few hours. I caught a couple of small bass and then this fog rolled in. The lake I was fishing is around 12 acres in size and the tree line in the pic is about 600 feet away from me. This little lake is very stumpy so I just dropped anchor and fished from one spot for about an hour until things cleared a bit. It was eerie seeing that fog roll across the water like that. 3 Quote
DanielG Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Wow, looks like someplace out of a Steven Kink novel. Creepy. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 3, 2019 Global Moderator Posted September 3, 2019 Cool picture! I was fishing from a kayak in the ocean one time amongst a bunch of mangroves. I had probably paddled about 2.5-3 miles and a fog like that rolled in. I freaked out a bit and just started paddling toward what I thought was the correct direction. Luckily I was right but I’m no ocean expert and boy was I scared 1 Quote

But I don't have his editors so, Voila! Kinky typos. BTW.... Being from Maine he's a pretty famous fixture around here. My wife's brother went to school with him. Fun fact. Or maybe not so fun but a fact nevertheless. It was a typo.. but a pretty funny one I guess. 2 Quote

Luckily I was right but I’m no ocean expert and boy was I scared Years ago I lived in a condo on the beach on Hilton Head Island and one fall night someone started pounding on my door. It was a frantic woman asking me to call beach patrol. It seems she and some friends were in a small boat on the mainland side of Hilton Head and got lost in the fog and by pure chance beached their boat. Because blackout curtains are mandatory (so as not to confuse sea turtles and hatchlings) there is very little light at night on the beach. This was before the days of smartphones and they had no compass or charts. What they did not realize is how lucky they were that they had beached. I lived on the ocean side of the island, not the mainland side they had been navigating. If they had not accidentally beached the boat they could have ended up out at sea. 1 Quote
