I’m looking to upgrade from my 100 dollar combos to 150-200 dollar combos. What are some good setups that fall in this price range?

Right off? My 1st setup. Diawa Fuego CT reel, Diawa Aird-X rod - about $165 retail. Reel comes in 3 speeds, rod comes in 3 powers (M/MH/H). For a just a bit over that $200, change out the rod for a Diawa Tatula-XT, Dobyns Fury or St Croix Bass-X.

Buy a used reel here.  Right now there are some Lews tourney pros for sale for $100, thats half new price, or a fuego ct for 65.  Then go buy the $100 rod of your choice: Abu Veritas, Dobyns Fury, Academy Ethos, Shimano SLX etc.

A lot of my reels were purchased used.  Quite a few rods, too.  It can be an excellent way to go allowing you to buy gear you wouldn't normally spring the money for when new.  Especially reels.  I've bought several that looked like new...or close to it.

Keep an eye out on Ebay and Amazon, you can frequently find Daiwa reels at good discounts. You can find a Fuego CT for 75 bucks brand new almost any day of the week...no seriously, I just looked. Save the extra money on the reel and put the rest of your budget into the rod. Dobyns Fury's are good, the Daiwa Tatula lineup is really nice but would put you slightly over budget, again look out for sales.

Buy some h20 xpress mettles 49.99 and invest the rest into your rods.. I would rather have good quality rods and just a reel that will last a couple seasons at least.
