I've got 3 baitcaster rods right now and 2 spinning rods.  One of my spinning rods is really for ICW fishing...so a little heavy.  Trying to decide if I should just replace the spinning rod and get a nicer combo, or add another casting rod, or both lol.  I've got a mixture of brands: Shimano SLX DC, SCurado K, and Shimano SLX casting, and Shimano stradic Ci4 for spinning.  Rods are Dobyns glass, lews TP1 and st croix avid.  St croix mojo for spinning rod.

  How do you roll?

I also Very rarely use a spinning rod. I went so far as to build casting rod on a spinning blank.  If you're okay with using spinning gear, I say: Go for it. It is much easier to find a spinning rod with the power and action you want than to find a casting rod with the same. It will fill that void you have nicely.
