Anthony12118 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I just bought a 1980 starcraft 16ft deep v hull with a evinrude 4hp deluxe. Going to add a casting deck, new paint because last paint job was done with a brush, a floor in front of the rear seat and a carpeted seat in the back. Should be a fun build, I'll update with pics as I go. If anyone has experiance with this type of boat build id gladly accept advice ! 2 Quote

haggard Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Congrats on your boat! My first was a 16 ft Starcraft deep V about 3 years ago, with a 15 hp Evinrude and plank flooring with a couple seats. The 1976 2 stroke pushed it to 14 mph (fast enough for that boat and the lake I was in). You may find that with the weight of a casting deck and floor etc the 4 hp might be a little taxed, but may be okay depending on how fast you want to run and what sort of water you're in. It's pebbled so it's not slick when wet. Yet it's impervious to mud, scents and fish slime. However, Spike It WILL dye it..... Quote
Anthony12118 Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 Motor runs very well once i figured out how too run it lol , 37 years old and my first boat, it's not fast obviously so I might skip the casting deck and just did the floor.
