ike8120 Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 I have read everyone's posts watched the videos etc. I bit the bullet and bought a 7' MH/F spinning rod with 3000 reel. My question now is what line is preferred? I have an assortment of copolymer line in different pound tests that I can use or do I need to go to braid? If using braid is a leader necessary. Also I read that some use a small swivel about 24" above the bait to prevent line twist. Quote
Tony johnson Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 i rig them on a 4/0 ewg just like senkos and trow them on m/h extra fast 7' rod with a lews speedspool reel... line is straight 20lb braid... i use the same set up for senkos 1 Quote

Super User JustJames Posted September 18, 2019 Super User Posted September 18, 2019 Some use swivel to help about line twisted especially on spinning setup, some also use bigger swivel to help weight the Fluke down to fish deeper. I use small line diameter 6-10lb copolymer or sometime fluorocarbon to get the Fluke deeper and sink faster. And smaller line will help in Fluke action, remember you want the Fluke to dance side to side not pulling in straight line. Smaller braid might work with super soft tip but with stiffer rod tip on MH you might end up pulling the lure instead of jerking it. 1 Quote
Bigassbass Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Thanks for the side to side, I get that. I went fishing late afternoon yesterday caught 3 bass on the fluke, works really well if it's a little windy, which it was. Everybody should use what works for them, I gave up swivels years ago rarely tie one on not useful line twist shouldn't be a problem with flukes and I use mono not interested in anything else to use as line. I've wasted a lot of money on braid and fluorocarbon don't like either. Fluke jr is good when the bite is light. 2 Quote
Falkus Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Soft Jerkbait setup: I have switched to braid line with FC leader this year to test it out. It looks like I might go back to Yo-Zuri hybrid (8lbs) after this season. ROD: St. Croix Mojo 6'6 Jerbait Rod (m/f) Reel: Curado 70XG Line: 20lbs braid with FC Quote
Super User JustJames Posted September 20, 2019 Super User Posted September 20, 2019 I just love fishing with Fluke, period. I use from Magnum Fluke all the way down to Tiny Fluke. Magnum Fluke, Rod MH/F Line 14lbs FC. Fluke Jr. Rod L/F line 6lb not sure if FC or Copolymer. Tiny Fluke Rod UL/F solid tip line 18lb gliss line to 4lb copolymer leader. Too bad I haven’t fish Super Fluke much this year because I lost my Fav Fluke Rod. Shimano Crucial (dropshot specific) M/F. Quote
Bigassbass Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I use to fish a lake were the bass schooled a lot and I threw a fluke always bet I caught hundreds of bass off that lure, I chased those schoolies for 10 years what fun. Once I saw a school of fish in the late summer that looked to be half an acre large, no lie never have I seen anything like that, and mostly big fish 4-5 lbs! Quote
