Super User clayton86 Posted August 29, 2019 Super User Posted August 29, 2019 Anyone know what size the running guides are on these rods the 7’ MHF a buddy just gave me his to fix brand new and two guides popped out. I’d measure the other guides but the battery died in my calipers. Quote
spoonplugger1 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Use your home ruler, it's metric on one side, the guide frame ID is the measured part so the ceramic is slightly larger. Quote
spoonplugger1 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Somewhere along the line, since built your rod saw some rough treatment. Always take a Q-tip with you, any broken ceramic rings you may not notice will snag the cotton tips. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 My guess would be a 6. They’re the most common “standard” size. If they appear smaller than other production rods you have possibly a 5.5. Anything smaller would likely be marketed as “macro” or “micro”. Quote

He’s tired of waiting so he gave it to me over the weekend and said he’ll pay for new ones and the repair cost. Not my rod and the inserts didn’t break the guides are just gone like not wrapped tight or epoxied good. I just had the same thing for a repair on a Shimano Expride for a $300 factory rod I sure did find a lot of quality issues with it. Quote
