hawgchaser Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I need a two piece casting rod to keep in my car. I travel a lot for work and want to just keep one in the back. I have an awesome spinning setup for this but want a casting one as well. I’ll either have a Citica or Pflueger Supreme on it. And want an all arounder rod preferably a 6’6” or so. I’ve never used a 2 piece casting rod so I don’t even know what’s out there! Quote
moguy1973 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 St. Croix makes a Mojo Bass that is a two piece rod 6'8" in both Med and Med Heavy. I've read that the Kastking Perigee II are really good 2-piece rods also. And you can get them with two tips with different powers so in essence you are buying two rods for one. Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted August 28, 2019 Super User Posted August 28, 2019 I keep a Daiwa Fuego with 30lb braid on a Aird-X 7" MH 2pc in the truck or car at all times. I've caught a ton of fish on this combo throwing anything from light plastics to frogs. I think it's a great combo regardless of it's low price. Even when I have all of my other rods with me this is my 1/2-3/4 oz Dark Sleeper rig. When I think I'll be fishing heavier cover I mount a Pflueger Supreme XT on it with 50lb braid. I haven't busted this stick yet. Quote
Falkus Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 MH Mojo two piece rod is what I would pick - Quote
Tim Kelly Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I have to fly to go bass fishing, so have spent a lot of time searching out decent two piece bass rods. My current top tip is the Tailwalk fullrange cc series. I used the 6'8" MH on both my trips this summer and was very pleased with it. http://tailwalk.jp/english/bass/fullrangecc/ I think the St Croix Mojo would be another good suggestion, the 1 piece mojos are decent sticks. Super User islandbass Posted August 28, 2019 Super User Posted August 28, 2019 I know Cabelas has a few 2-piece house brand models. Both casting and spinning. I primarily use 2-piece rods because I need to have rods in the trunk, lol. My true bass rods only see action on the weekends. I think i was looking at major craft rods and was surprised to see 2-piece casting and spinning not too long ago and they look really nice. I have a 1) 7’ M Cabelas mag touch (no longer made) casting rod. 2) 6’6” MH Shimano compre spinning rod 3) 7’ okuma celilo UL rod I did see a fish eagle 2 two-piece casting at BPS for about $80 they I’m eyeing for now. Adding an MH would pretty much round me out 2-piece wise. Even though my mag touch is only M powered, and it fishes like a medium to me, it has shocked me how easily it has driven home single hook lures like spinner baits and siwash hooks on my inline spinners and buzz bombs. Both of these rods are sensitive enough to feel the hit of blue gills and pumpkin seeds and easily handle the likes salmon, large bass and trout. Both my compre and mag touch seem so versatile. I’ve used both to drop shot, cranks, spinnerbaits, lighter jigs and senkos and t-rigs. I know we all prefer our one pieces overall but I’m gonna be straight up. If I let you fish with them, handed them to you before you saw me put it together, you wouldn’t even know they were 2-piece rods. Quote
ike8120 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Kast King has a few line of rods from $24.95 up. Rods aren't too bad for the price point. I have a Perigee , Calamus and Speed Demon Pro. https://www.kastking.com/c/casting-rods_0386 Quote
hawgchaser Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 Awesome! Thanks guys. I’m using 2 piece rods more and more simply bc I don’t have a truck anymore. I keep them in my SUV and I’m hauling kids around. It’s easy to find good spinning 2 piece rods. Ill check out yalls recommendations! Quote
Super User king fisher Posted August 28, 2019 Super User Posted August 28, 2019 Diawa Ardito travel rod. It is three piece but works as well as any two piece and most one piece rods. I take mine everywhere, fishing for multiple species of fish. Comes with a quality case that fits in the over head baggage on airlines. One of the few multi purpose casting rods available at Tackle Warehouse. Quote
boostr Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I can vouch for the Kastking Perigee II 2 piece rods. Great rods for the price. Quote
waymont Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 St Croix Premier casting rods are excellent if you need the freedom of a two piece. Quote
