flywall99 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Why is the Gambler EZ Swimmer rolling when im reeling it back in? I havent noticed that with the other paddle tails i use and i always use the same rod and reel (703c and tatula ct 6.3:1) just different hook sizes and weights depening on what im throwing. If i slow down, it doesnt seem to do it as much. Im using 30lb braid and 3/16oz tungsten bullet weight and vmc 4/0 ewg hook (regular wire). Ive tried it pegged and unpegged. I almost always throw braid because i fishing around a lot of grass in south florida and dont have very much confidence in fluoro but i actually just bought some 15lb invizx but havent spooled it up yet lol. Tim Kelly Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Maybe it's not rigged straight or the hook isn't heavy enough to keel it? Try a weighted hook rather than a bullet weight. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted August 28, 2019 Global Moderator Posted August 28, 2019 That problem went away when I started using an Owner keel weighted hook with cps on all paddle tail swim baits. Try it Mike 1 Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted August 28, 2019 Super User Posted August 28, 2019 I use a lot of the Gambler paddle tails and they are very sensitive to hook placement unless you have some weight on the hook to keel it. I sometimes fish the Big EZs weightless and on top like a toad and unless I get the hook placement perfect it will twist around like crazy. 1 1 Quote
