Jonny15678 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 So I plan on trying out the tokyo rig. I plan to fish it mostly in shallow water from the bank. What size tungsten is best? Quote
JediAmoeba Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Tokyo rig, I.E. Weed snagger, bottom snagger or shield your eyes while I snap this line off rig. I am sure it is great in some places, maybe new lakes with smooth hardpan bottoms, but I know not where these places exist. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 26, 2019 Super User Posted August 26, 2019 Why are you using a Tokyo rig? I'm certain that a standard Texas Rig would work in a shallow, shoreline presentation. To answer your question, you generally pick what weight gives the action and weed penetration you desire. There is no "best" size. 1 Quote
Super User webertime Posted August 26, 2019 Super User Posted August 26, 2019 This weed snagged thing... bend the wire until you are just about to hit 90 degrees. Stuff just slides off or gets stuff stuck about the same as a Texas rig. I like the idea (and this might be 100% in my head) of the hook point not really having anything in front of it. Weight wise use 2 of whatever weights that add up to what you normally Texas rig with. IE 2x 1/8 oz if you normally use a 1/4oz. Quote
Jaderose Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I was getting ready to Google "Tokyo Rig" and then realized I didn't care...lol Quote
jr231 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Try the redneck rig. You take a brick and tie a floating worm to it. Attach the brick with 80lb mono to your truck hitch. Every so often just pull off in the truck and drag your catch to shore ! Haha really tho, I think tweaks and variations in rigs is a good thing. It keeps things fresh and exciting and if it gives a little confidence to us then it's a win for sure. A man with confidence is much more successful than a man without in more ways than one. I've become a big fan of the "jika" rig punching through some vegetation when bank fishing. 1 Quote
