Does anyone have any experience with this Expride A Casting Rod: 7'2" Med Lt+. On TW it says "American Bait Finesse" it's rated 7-14lb line, 1/8-5/8 lures.

I'm looking for something to throw 3/16-1/4oz finesse jigs + trailer on 20lb braid with a Tatula SV TW103. The SV is really great at throwing light weight stuff, just wondering if the Expride would have enough backbone for hook sets.

Are you new here? Very few BR members, including myself,  would approve of such a mix of Shimano and Diawa.

Don't do it.  Mixing the two will cause you will to loose all of your Shimano friends, as well as your Diawa friends.  Your Lew's friends will still talk to you but will whisper snide remarks when you walk into a room.  People will point and laugh when you walk into a tackle shop.  You might even get a knock on the door at 3:00 AM by the secret tackle police.  I'm sure the bass will still bite, but you have to have a life off the water too.

I had the 6'10" Zodius medium light with a Bantam MGL on it. Was casting 1/8oz jig with a 2.8 Keitech. Never could get it to cast very far. After about an hour of playing around, I gave up and returned the rod.

I have a Expride spinning rod in medium light and have used it to catch quite a few fish, but nothing over 2.5 pounds. I feel like it would handle some larger fish without a problem though.

It might not be the rod, but your reel. IMHO.

I actually exchanged it for the medium. I have two 6'10" medium Zodius rods and I love them. I don't use them for 1/8oz jigs, but other stuff. I would have gotten the Exprides, but they were not in stock either time I was in the market to buy.

It very well could have been the reel and not the rod. The rod was easy to return/exchange and I like the reel so I went that way. I just kept with what was working already for me, finesse stuff on spinning gear.

I don’t have experience with Expride itself but fish a lot with crucial. I wouldn’t use my M crucial 1/8-3/8 (worm and jig rod) with 1/4oz jig + trailer (total weight ~ 3/8oz) the tip is too soft to get a good action or hook set.

I have my 7'2" med light expride paired up with a Aldebaran HG.

Its a great combo.

The expride fishes more like a medium than a med light.

I use mine for 3/16 to 1/4 T-rigs with 12 lbs P-line tactical.

This rod and my GLX 852c fish about the same. The expride tip might be slightly more stiff but not by much.

That's what I was thinking it would be like. I was on the fence about getting a Loomis 852 or MBR 782 also. Thanks!

Yes. They are daiwa OG corks.

I prefer them over the tiny stock flat shimano knobs.

Funny.

So far my reels haven't blown up yet.

I have daiwa knobs on most of my shimanos.

Daiwa knobs and Hedgehog carbon fiber handle on my MGL.

I ended up putting the Metanium 13 on the GLX and the Metanium MGL on the NRX.

U40 cork seal, I add it first thing when I get a new rod.
