OkieBoy17 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Okay so i still haven't got a full answer but im looking for a finesse setup to throw shakey heads and drop shots my choices are the 822 dsr 822 syr or 852s i fish the California delta so ill be around some cover now i want the rod that can throw both these techniques well and if theres a rod out the conquest line that can do these well ill consider that to but as of now from reading up online the 852s 822dsr and 822syr are the choices. Yumeya Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 I would take the Conquest 842. But out of what you have listed the 852 would do all those fine. What weight will you be using for the ned rigs? I've used my Conquest 842s for ned rigs and it worked fine with 1/8oz, it loads up better when casting vs the 852. I now use the Megabass Flyssa for all my ned rigs. Quote

Yumeya Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 Last week I accidentally snagged a 10lb carp right above its tail with my conquest 842s in lily pads, it took a while to get in but was d**n fun... Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 25, 2019 Super User Posted August 25, 2019 852s should be just what you're looking for. I really like the 822syr as well for light DS, SH, and Neds, but in the Delta the extra power of the 852 will serve you well. I've landed a 9#LMB and multiple accidental 10#+ catfish and carp on mine at Clear Lake this year and it's handled them flawlessly. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 26, 2019 Super User Posted August 26, 2019 About 5-6 years of experience with the 852s. Super versatile rod and could pretty much cover all finesse spinning applications for you out on the Delta. I also use an Addermine, Legend Elite, and the 822 syr quite a bit, and the 852 would be the one I'd be bringing with me to the Delta. That being said, any of the rods you're considering should make you quite happy. Quote
