dickenscpa Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I've never been real into the sonars and to be honest never made one work for me until recently. I bought a Garmin Striker 4 for the bow and put the transducer on the TM. For the first time I've seen arches and caught fish this way. Liked this unit so much I removed the Lowrance off the console and installed a Striker 7. I've read for years about people networking them together, etc and thought wow! they know what they're doing. LOL! Now I want to share my waypoints between these two units and they're compatible. I know to connect the blue to blue and brown to brown but what gauge wire are they? I obviously need to build extensions but boat's at home and I planned on stopping on the way home and pick up some wire. TIA Brad Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 21, 2019 Global Moderator Posted August 21, 2019 You don’t connect like colors together on both ends though. I’m pretty sure you can just use a thermostat wire, they’re cheap enough. On my Echomap units I have the brown and blue like you said. What I was told on another forum is brown to brown and vise versa on one end then brown to blue on the other end. Hope this helps. Quote
Junger Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Yep, you connect the blue to brown for both connections. Unit 1 --------------- Unit 2 Brown----------------Blue Blue------------------Brown I think they are either 16 or 18 gauge. I bought a waterproof heatshrink kit from Amazon and used the red ones. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FLYSW7X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Quote
dickenscpa Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 I called Garmin yesterday and they confirmed opposite colors go together. I told them it looked like 20-22 gauge and they said it was more like 26-28 gauge and to use speaker wire. There's a West marine on the way home from the office so I plan to make a pit stop. Now that I actually have the ability to spot structure with fish on it, I want to be able to mark these waypoints and cruise up close with the big motor and get where I want with the TM. So sharing waypoints all the sudden became important to me. LOL! 1 Quote
Krux5506 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Good to know. Like you, I'm not a huge fan of electronics but I like having the basics. I have the Striker 7 on the bow and want to upgrade the console sometime to the striker 9 SV and link together. Quote
dickenscpa Posted September 3, 2019 Author Posted September 3, 2019 I actually ran the wires thru the gunnel (painstakingly I might add) a week or so ago and it didn't work. I have the Striker 7 on the console and Striker 4 on the bow but they're not sharing. Maybe the 4 doesn't share, but if that's the case they shouldn't put the wires on it making you think it did. Did you enable data sharing in the software settings? https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=ZZ5c7kg45I3hDoL4fhXFd9 To enable User Data Sharing: Start on the Home screen Select User Data Select Manage Data Select User Data Sharing and switch to On Quote

Terry McGhee Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Can I wire my garmin striker 4 to the positive and neg. To the wires going to the console. Just hard wire it instead of going all the way back to the battery? Quote
