Sharknado Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Just FYI - Bought blank, guides, twine, glue and cork handle from Mud Hole.com. Spent $200.00 and 2 days building my rod. First day out I caught a 3lb bass and the rod broke in half. Complete junk! I called the company and they said it broke because I tied the guides on to tight, what? This doesn’t make any sense. Buyer beware this is garbage rod building stuff! Stay away! 1 1
Shimano_1 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Not sure one malfunction calls for all this. Several things could factor in. Was this ur first build? Yes if u wrap them extremely tight it could damage the blank. I've had a cple rods I built break. I've also had a cple store bought rods break. Difference is I don't have to rebuild a store bought rod. Honestly why I quit building all my rods. Loved the custom thing but heart breaking too have to rebuild.
Super User Darren. Posted August 20, 2019 Super User Posted August 20, 2019 Welcome aboard! Be sure to look at the forum rules as there's one about bashing a company...it's actually toward the bottom of the FAQ. Hope you find a resolution. I know several people who've built rods via parts from Mudhole, with good results. Might be a fluke that escalating up the chain will resolve. Good luck. Quote I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here? While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office. There are other options, but attacking the company in a public forum is not appropriate nor allowed. Such posts will be removed. 1
