J33wolf Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 If you could buy either of the first two reels or 3 of the last reel all for around the same price of $150 or less, which would you buy? 1 higher end or 3 of a lower end? Lew's Tournament Pro Speed Spool TP1XHA 8:3:1 Lew's BB1 Pro PRS1HZ. 6.4:1 3 of Lew’s Speed Spool LFS SSG1SH 2x 7:5:1 / 1x 6:8:1 Quote
deadadrift89 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 If you need to build up inventory for more combos or replace some older reels, I'd choose 3 of the later. I've got a Tournament Pro and Speed Spool LFS. What plans do you have for them? Quote
J33wolf Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 I’m just now getting proficient with baitcasters. I bought a couple on here years ago and have just recently dusted them off and been using them more (Curado 50e and an older Bass Pro Qualifier). I’ve wanted to dip my toes into Lews brand so I’ve been searching around and came across these. Thanks for any more input. Quote

FishinBuck07 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I just bought a Tournament MB this year in the 8:3.1 ratio and I love it. I am planning on in the future to replace all my other reels with that reel in different gear ratios. It is built solid and is very smooth! Quote

It appears they might be replaced with the tournament MP, 10 bucks more and adds red accents which im not a fan of. MB was $20 off on TW if I remember right. Quote

God forbid they just keep something good! lol Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted August 19, 2019 Super User Posted August 19, 2019 The 3 LFS for $150 seems like the best deal. Those reels are normally $99.99 each. I have enough lower end reels so I would probably go for a BB1 Pro as that would fill a missing piece in my arsenal. 1 Quote

I found them at Sportsmans outfitters for almost $40 off so bought 2 more! haha like I need them! 1 Quote
moguy1973 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I have an LFS and they are really great reels for the price. Like someone above said if you have three rods you need reels on I'd get three of the LFS Quote

Buy it from Sportsmans outfitters . You'll understand why once you own it. The carbon drag and externally adjustable centrifugal brakes are unreal. Best reel I've ever casted or owned. That includes all my friends Shimano and diawa reels. Quote
boostr Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Just a FYI the Tournament MB has a smaller spool than BB1 models. The BB1 Speed Spool is a nice option as well. Quote
jubantique Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I have several Lew’s reels and rods and are I’ll impressed with there service department. Getting reels repaired or maintained through them became such a haste that I ended up with Bass Pro Shops service provider. The provider actually called me when they had questions on parts or the type of service I requested. They were also more timely in their repairs! Quote
Shimano_1 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I'd go tournament pro. I believe they're the best bang for ur buck in the lews lineup. The speed spool or mb are fine but they're not on par with the tournament pro. I've owned several of all and have never understood how anyone can say the mb is as good as a tournament pro. 1 Quote
