I got up to find the tire on my boat trailer flat this morning, so instead of taking off for the ramp I had to drag out my hydraulic jack, jack up the rear of the trailer, pull the tire, I go to remove the spare that's kept under the front of the trailer, its held in the bracket with a bolt that hasn't been removed in about 120 years, so Im under there hitting the bolt with a hammer, I cant get the d**n thing out so I crawl out to get some WD-40, the minute I get out from under there the front tongue jack breaks and the trailer crashes down, the bracket that I was lying under was embedded about 2 inch's into the dirt. Bottom line I would have been crushed, no one was around to have seen me under there, even if I got out a single yell which I doubt, no one would have heard it. I figure they would have found me around Wednesday. If you look at the boat in the my ride thread (page 8) you can see how the bracket hangs down.

I had the rear good and braced I never thought of that front jack breaking, but their just for lifting the front off the hitch, I had all the weight leaning on it from the back being up.

Maybe this will keep someone else from making the same mistake.

When I finally got out there it really didn't matter I wasn't catching many fish, the lake looked a little extra beautiful as well.

That's a close call, I'm glad you caught a break!

God was watching over you. If you did not thank HIM maybe that is the next thing you should do. The close calls we have in life is not from luck. It is because God is watching over us all the time. Amen

Don't ever get under your trailer/boat unless it is secured on your hitch.

and take the spare off the trailer first.

I am glad you posted this!!! I would hate to hear about someone getting hurt because of a mistake. I'm glad you are okay and like everyone else said someone upstairs was watching. I'm not a real religious person but that is something to think about. Most people learn from their mistakes.

Mistakes like that no one usually learns... That is usually their last mistake they ever make.

I knew a guy who was working on a dumptruck bed and he forgot to secure the body when he lifted it up while he was working under the body. He had to hammer something and when the hammer slipped it smacked the hydrolic line and immediatley the body came crashing down and pretty much cut him in half. I'm not posting this to make anyone sick... I'm posting this so no one else will ever make that terrible mistake ever again!!!
