Skunkd Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Looking to add a dedicated drop shot rod to the kayak arsenal so I'm taking a hard look at this rod. I picked up a Helium 6'9" casting rod earlier this summer and its quickly become my favorite rod as I throw a lot of T-Rigs/ Jigs where I fish. Would be targeting largemouth in smaller lakes/ponds that have a decent amount of vegetation. New to the drop shot game but its quickly become a favorite technique. Anything you can share about the Kistler, or other recommendations in the say $250 -$300 range appreciated. Thx T Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted August 17, 2019 Super User Posted August 17, 2019 I have Kistler's 7' M/F Mag-2. I use it primarily for wacky Senkos/finesse T-rigs and figure it'd work just fine for drop shotting. My current drop shot rod is Abu's Ike 7' M/XF. This is my first season with it and so far so good. I like the tip. I also use this rod for Ned rigs. I prefer Kistler over Abu, but I couldn't pass up the IKE because of price. I'd wait for Kistler's to go on sale, either on Kistler's or TW's site. Best of luck. Quote
Scrapiron Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 That would be a great rod to get- and versatile enough to do other presentations as well. Important in a kayak sine space is limited. Well unless you’re the type to bring 8-12 rods.? I think there’s a 25% sale right now. Quote
Yumeya Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 I have a Kistler Helium Medium light 7' that is amazingly sensitive, the guides are okay but I don't care for the reel seat. This is what I would get for Dropshot. Also take a look at the Megabass Orochi XX whipsnake, that is a awesome rod for the price. Quote
