OK I just bought myself a new fishing reel and I'm looking for a rod, yes Shamano would be ok but which one?  What other rods will match, I'll be fishing for bass with spinners, top water, worms and anything I think they'll bite.  What suggestions do you have?

Congrat's on a great reel!  How much do you want to spend on the rod?  I'm a SC fanboy so for <$ 150.00 I like the Mojo Bass.  Around $ 200.00 is the AVID series which IMO is the best combination of performance/price all the way up to the LEGEND ELITE or LEGEND XTREME which are $ 400.00 and up.

Hey, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums @Bigassbass. Not sure what you rod budget is, but for $159.99 (TW) a Shimano Curado 7’1” medium action rod or bump up to a Zodias 7’ medium heavy. A rod and reel made specially to be used as a pair is pretty nice. Granted, there are a multitude of options on both ends of the manufacturer and cost scale...

I just bought the 1000 size of that exact reel and stuck it in a Zodias 7ft medium light. Only been out a couple times, but so far it's been a SPECTACULAR rod. Since it's my only spinner, it's all the advice I got. But as said above, you cant ever go wrong with a St.Croix

Any rod will match but a smart match would be a >$300 rod. Always spend more on your rod! NRX or a Kistler Zbone would be the cream of the crop.

I have a CI4+ 2500 on a St. Croix avid x. MLF. The legend extreme 7' LF is also nice. But my favorite to date is the legend elite panfish 6' ULF. The panfish if your CI4 is a 1000.

Gloomis Conquest, NRX, GLX.

St Croix Legend series

Megabass Destoryer

Kistler Magnesium 3 or Z-bone

Phenix Ultra MBX

Shimano Expride

Take your pick..

The 7' expride is a awesome rod.

Dont let the low line ratings fool you.

The expride blows the curado rod and zodias out of the water.

Super sensitive and light.

I feel like the Curado rods are criminally underrated.

Great choice on the reel. Like @Randy Price I'm biased to SC. I use the 2500 CI4+ with an Avid AVS69MLXF and find the size, balance and weight really great. That setup is great for LM/SM bass using lighter lures and techniques such as drop shot, soft plastics on light wire jig heads, etc. That rod is light without being too noodly.

If I'm not using the ML, I put the 2500 CI4+ on an Avid AVS66MF which is a little more stout and great for general purpose LM/SM applications. Again I find the size, balance and weight feel just right on it.

Hope this helps.
