I have heard RW say how good these things are for so long i had to give them a try . I ordered some through GYCB monday afternoon and paid for the 3 day shipping so i could recieve them by this weekend due to local tourney. Much to my surprise i had not recieved them bye friday and checked on them and was told would be delivered monday  >:o Needless to say it has put a bad taste in my mouth with this company , like the price isnt high enough wothout payin the extra shipping . Just wondered where most of you get yours cause i have been unable to locate any close by me ( Eastern North Carolina ) thanks

I get mine at Dick's Sporting Goods.  They don't have a large selection but they always have some at our local store.

West Coast Custom Tackle's hula sticks are a better value, easier to come by, comes with better customer service, and IMO a better bait than the original Fat Ikas.  Plus, I just like supporting smaller businesses and real people rather than the titans that are out to steal a buck.

I have no idea what this means or why anyone would make such a blanket statement about large companies.  Not all companies are the same.  And customer service is a nonfactor with softbaits.  If I get a hula stick torn up during a bass strike, can I call the customer service number and get a replacement sent to me free of charge?   If not, then who cares.  And it is not easier to come by.  I cannot buy these baits at BPS, Dicks, Cabellas, etc...  Sorry, if I'm coming across as a little confrontational, it just really bothers me when someone bashes large corporations, when obviously, to get as big as they are, they had to do something right.

Besides, any time someone suggests an alternative to Senkos, Ikas, or any of GY's products, it always ends in dissappointment for me.

BPS doesn't sell fat ikas at their stores (at least not in Illinois) but they do sell the palm trees. Also if you have a local bait shop, they will usually order anything through their supplier & you wouldn't have to pay for shipping.

I have Fat Ikas and I think I got them at a local tackle shop, Greentop outside of Richmond, Virginia.

They are very productive in the cyprus trees on the Chickahomoney River.

Fat Alberts do well, too.

Well i received my Fat Ika's monday about 4 days after i should have gotten them and can hardly wait to try them out . I also had my daughter to call GYCB's and asked for a partial refund on the shipping since they made the mistake of shipping ups ground instead of 3 day and they remembered me from being so upset last week that they decided to not charge any shipping :o I complained about the company when they screwed up so i thought it be fit to let everyone know they did try to make things better in the end . RW i sure hope your right about these things  for me and my son inlaw have had enuff skunks in our tourneys lately. We are catching fish just not keepers . Again thanks to all

I'm not such a big Ika user but if I were going to stock up I would recommend buying from westcoastcustomtackle.com also.

They don't fall apart as easy as the original Ikas and are much softer and come in a variety of better colors.

Which color is better?

I was wondering if you guys (Aint Texan & WhiteMike) have actually fished a Fat Ika? I've been fishing them for three years and never have had one "fall apart." A fish will ocassionally throw one, but I can usually fish most of an outing with just one bait unless I loose it getting hung up. Unlike the Senko which has a high percentage of its total length free from hook support, the Fat Ika is almost totally involved. This bait is "bite-size" and generally taken completely into the fish's mouth.

p.s.

I want to re-emphasize that buying products from BassResource.com advertisers helps us all. Brad Coovert sells a broad range of lures and equipment, including the Fat Ika. Please take a look at his site:

Thanks RW.

Yep, I got some Fat Ika's, but only in Green Pumpkin at the moment.  :o   Two guys in Europe, Italy and France, cleaned me out of these baits along with almost all my kreatures.

Hopefully, I will be placing a GYCB order after ICAST out in Vegas.

I also placed a link on the webstore to my eBay store.  I try to keep stock in both stores, but sometimes one is out.  I'm still in growth mode, but I have 712 different items/colors/sizes now.

ICAST may end up being the "wholesale bait monkey" for me.

Also, thanks to all who have bought items at my stores!

Brad

I love to smallie fish I'm new to the forum. Lots of great input everyone. Question to everyone? I've not heard about the IKA'S till now what's everyone's favorite colors. Maybe that help me save some$$ by avoiding the trial and error part of trying a new bait and buying a bunch of colors that just don't produce. ;D

P.S  THANKS IN ADVANCE

I have the same experience after getting a LOT OF BIG FISH on them.

milkshake,

Whatever color is your "favorite color" will work just fine. I like green pumpkin, watermelon with black flakes, black with blue flakes and watermelon with black & red flakes. Mostly, I just like "Dark." Here is the color chart:

Good luck!

I took Road Warriors advice and igot some black with blue flake, and i have been catching a ton of fish on them.  ONly regret is only getting one bag.

Ditto to RW's comment about "dark" plastics. Green pumpkin or watermelon w/red or black flake never lets me down.

Oh yeah, ditto again to ordering from Brad. Fast shipping and a great selection. (Thanks for the Flappin Hogs Brad, I've actually still got a few left)

Ikas are great baits but I usually have to get the Palm Trees unless I want to wait for shipping (BPS has the Palm Trees).  I love the Christmas Tree color but green pumpkin works well too.  I have had no luck (except one carp) with the reddish gold color.
