So Rapala makes a ton of lures: husky jerk, scatter rap, scatter rap shad, original floating, jointed stuff, etc. Where can I find just a normal jerkbait for bass? My brother has pro staff with them so I'd like to stick with Rapala and/or family companies.

The Husky Jerk and Shadow Rap are pretty "normal" as far as suspending jerkbaits go.

For floaters, there's the basic Original Floating Minnow, which you can still get everywhere. Hard to get more normal than that.

How do you define a “normal” jerkbait? Jerkbaits can be floating, suspending or sinking, hard or soft. Which one do you want?

I'd consider the shadow rap their standard jerkbait. It suspends. The x rap also suspends but is supposed to be more erratic and shine when worked real fast. The husky jerk slowly floats and does well for me on a straight retrieve.

The XRap is the only Rapala jerkbait that I've done very well with, specifically the smaller sizes. I keep a couple of them in my bank fishing bag in the smaller sizes to target bass and crappie with.

I fish the husky jerk from Rapala, I don't get out much during winter which is the best time for them in my opinion, but they do ok during other times of year...just make sure you are prepared to add/subtract weight by way of hooks/split rings to get it to sink/suspend/float to your preference.

I like Rapala baits as I've been having success with them for a long time. If I was narrowing down 1 jerkbait from that brand to use it would be an X-Rap. I love the Shadow Rap and Shadow Rap Shad and the Rip Stop has been great but the X-Rap works in a lot more situations. The X-Rap is the only suspending jerkbait I use in warm water, it is really erratic when worked fast but it works just as well in cold water when you are working it much slower. When it comes to colors, either glass ghost or silver, both of the colors have been really good for me when the bite has been tough.

Could not be put any better. Get a few of these and you’ll be fine. Rapala puts out a good product that catches fish.

I'd say their most normal jerk bait is a Husky Jerk.  It's a classic that's caught me a ton of fish, many species.  I love the #6 X Rap on the local river for smallmouth and walleyes.  Both baits suspend but sometimes one needs some tinkering out of the box to get it to be neutrally buoyant.
