Abu Garcia Ike Signature Series casting rod

Do these run higher than their lure rating like most Abu Garcia rods do? I see an 8ft. Heavy model for ridiculously cheap and wondered if it would be a good swimbait rod but looking it up the specs say the lure rating is only 1/2oz. - 2oz. I would only be interested in it if it would handle baits at least twice that weight.

I have the Ike Signature in a 7’2” MH fast action that I use for an all round jig and plastics rod and I can say that I really like it! It doesn’t seem to run too much heavier than the average med-heavy to me (but I also haven’t used that many med-heavy’s). I have casted baits on it whose weights were heavier than the suggested rating and it handled it fine! If you were going to throw baits only a little bigger than 2oz. I’m sure that it could handle it fine, but weights up to double that, I’m not really sure. BUT I may be wrong, so i’d wait till some others give you their input before you make a decision.

I just know that for example the Veritas in a Heavy power somebody said you could use it to fish for Bull sharks...obviously that's exaggerated but you get my point, despite the rating it fished like one power up ( like an XH). I'm just wondering if this rod follows suit?

I have the same exact 7’ 2” rod as Riversidebassin. He summed it up just right! It seems to be a little stronger than some other medium heavy’s I have fished with. I love it, and it is very light weight rod for its power (at least compared to the $100 rods I fish with). I don’t know anything about the 8ft model, but this is a great rod line.

I have a 7ft medium in both a casting and spinning version. They about right to me ( maybe abit stiffer) but i love both of these rods.
