Low Stretch Fluorocarbon Line

I am wondering which fluorocarbon lines have the least amount of stretch that you have tried for bottom contact baits?  I did run across the TT line test article from a few years back and found that pretty interesting.  With the market changing all the time I thought I would see what you guys would recommend.

I think they all stretch more or less the same amount really. Going up in diameter overcomes the stretch issue in a lot of ways. 20lb appears to have more sensitivity and hooksetting power than 12, but the presentation is compromised by the thicker line. Depends what you're trying to do.

As much as I dislike seaguar red label from a manageability standpoint I do think it is the most sensitive line I’ve used.  And yes......more sensitive than the highly overrated Tatsu. 

I am a fan of sun line sniper but have not tried shooter yet.  Sniper is really manageable but I bet shooter has better sensitivity.

Fluorocarbon line that is 42 bucks a spool is stupid.  Tatsu is no better than others.

Tatsu is great, but Sniper stretches a tad less.  And is half the price..

Go to Tackletour Archives.  At the bottom of the line reviews are two articles comparing fluorocarbon lines.  In the second article "Fluorocarbon Showdown: Part Two"  they compared line stretch.  Check the first article to see what fluorocarbon looks like when you have to break it due to a snag.  I had to cut several extra feet off.

Without a standard test method and procedure every test performed is subjective.

Less stretch is meaningless comparing single filament fishing lines made from Nylon, blends of Nylon, polyester or polyuerathane and Fluorocabon polymers.

Comparitive test must start by using the same diameter line line to establish tensile strength, yield strength (elongation under force), knot strength, abrasion strength, memory, casting performance. What rate is the force applied? Does the force rate replicate fishing conditions? Temperature of the test, wet or dry?

We know FC knot strength is poor compared to equal dia mono or coploymer lines, the proof is in the number of knots being invented to solve this problem.

Stretch is a meaningless factor because the rods used can't apply enough force to stretch line under normal fishing use. 

Assume the line starts to stretch between 35-40% of the lb test rating. Try lifting 4 1/2 lbs with your MH bass rod ( 4.56 is 38% of 12 lb test line). 

All FC line the same diameter will stretch under equal loads and force rate within a few % points, too close to call, same with mono and copolymer lines.

The exercise becomes a popularity contest of brands.

Tatsu comes in larger spool sizes than a lot of other fluoros. I just use topshots on my reels with Tatsu. 1 spool, 50 yards of line on 4 reels, makes the cost much more manageable and keeps me fishing fresh line. I've fished a lot of different fluoros from Sunline, Seaguar, Gamma, Pline, Sufix, Vicious, Yo-Zuri, Stren, Berkley, Silver Thread, Maxima, and HI-SEAS to name a few. Tatsu ranks right at the top with Shooter and Gamma Edge IMO. Hard to go wrong with one of those lines on your reel.
