BassSam5 Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I love the favorite rods but have never tried their white bird. Is the favorite white bird a good rod for the money? Quote
JediAmoeba Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Generally speaking Favorite seems like a great marketing company to me. Their products are O.K. and they get a lot.of notoriety because of the fisherman they sponsor and the way they design and market their products. I think you can get more for your money in a lot of other products. Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted August 13, 2019 Super User Posted August 13, 2019 One way to sometimes get a decent answer to this question is to answer a few questions in your request: 1. What is your budget? 2. What presentations do you plan to use this rod for? Such as texas rig...or crankbaits...or frogs, etc 3. Do you have a strong preference for grips? Cork/winn/eva? Split, full handle? 4. Do you have a strong preference for larger than micro guides? 5. Do you want to buy in person? On line ok? 3 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted August 13, 2019 Super User Posted August 13, 2019 It's a tie between an egret and a dove... 4 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted August 13, 2019 Super User Posted August 13, 2019 I have watched the White Bird in action on a few YouTubers videos (1rod1reel, Westin Smith) Looks like it is a decent rod at the $60 price range. If you order it online expect to add another $20 to the cost for shipping. That brings it to a price point where you can find a better rod at a brick and mortar. DSG sells Favorite rods but not this one. If they did I would pick one up to avoid shipping. My Favorite Balance impressed me enough to give this one a chance. Quote

Shimano_1 Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I've defended the favorite deal many times on here but I think even I am starting to kinda be repulsed by this company. Apparently they're doing fine by taking money from kids who don't realize how much better there is for the money. As stated, many companies offer much better products at any price point. I've handled several favorites and buddies have a cple. I'd take any 13, abu, basspro, daiwa, shimano, etc. Of course this is all q matter of opinion. If it seems like a good deal to you try one and report back as to how it fishes. 1 Quote

You can get the same reel off Wish for $10. 1 hour ago, Shimano_1 said: I've defended the favorite deal many times on here but I think even I am starting to kinda be repulsed by this company. Maybe they should market this ingenius idea, put a purple camo wrap around it and sell it for $40. Name it the "Sick Stick". It would be the hottest gift under the tree come christmas morning. 1 Quote
Shimano_1 Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Pretty sure the product in question is a rod not a reel. By "deal" I was referring to the constant back and forth about favorite products in general. Quote
DSTN Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I checked one out at Field and Stream a little while back purely out of curiosity. Felt like a solid rod, especially for the price. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 14, 2019 Global Moderator Posted August 14, 2019 I fished one for awhile, wasn't terrible, wasn't any special either. I prefer my Lightning Rod Shocks for less money. Quote
Yumeya Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 For that price I would take a Cabelas Fish eagle, you will get better graphite and better guides. Favorite fishing brand is IMO a joke. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 14, 2019 Super User Posted August 14, 2019 I have a White bird. It isn't as sensitive as other rods in this price range, but the solid tip may be a plus for a shore fisherman. I wouldn't call it Ugly Stik tough, but I was pretty mean to it, and it didn't break. So, if durability against poor treatment is a must, then it's an option. Otherwise, meh. 1 Quote

Alec McMillan Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Dobyns Colt is a great rod in that price range Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 To the OP there are A LOT of Googan Squad haters (I personally don't have anything against them or for them) on this forum so whenever you bring up a product of theirs or that sponsor them be prepared for a tidal wave of negativity. If you have the money, buy one and try it out...you may like it and in the end that's all that matters. Myself, I prefer Dobyn's, Shimano and Daiwa. I like the fact that those companies own their own factories and/or have major say in how their products are made but in the end if you like the Favorite brand rods and they work for you it's all good!
