booneangler Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Ok so i go out to the garage to plug up the charger on the boat. I go to plug it into a extension coard and there is just a little spark of electricty between the cord and the extension cord no big deal i figure. Well i wait and i wait to see if the battery charger will start humming and nothing no lights come on or nothing. So i check the extension cord and the outlet everything is fine we got power. I plug the cord back up and nothing again no humming no lights at all on the charger. Is the charger fried you think. I just had this thing plugged up yesterday i was going to go out tonight and now it will not cut on. Any idea's if it might be fried? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 31, 2008 Super User Posted July 31, 2008 Had the same thing happen to one of my single bank portable chargers last week. I opened it up looking for a possible fuse failure--no fuses, fried circuit board. Quote
booneangler Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 well that makes me feel great!!! :-/ Quote
booneangler Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 ok here is my next question. What does it mean when you are looking at other chargers and it says 3 bank or 4 bank what in the world does that mean. IM looking to get a new one that will charge my trolling motor battery when my big motor is running. Does anyone know of any like this? Quote
booneangler Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 im thinking of getting a 3 bank charger by Pro Charger. It puts out 10 amps per bank? anyone tried these. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 31, 2008 Super User Posted July 31, 2008 Just a thought but why not check the circuit breakers in your home. Also, check the fuses that are built into the plugs at the wall. I have blown them from time to time jacking with stuff. Quote
booneangler Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 well i plugged my shop vac up and it worked fine from th same outlet :-? Quote
Garnet Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Get a multi meter and set it so you read 13.25 aprox strait off the battery then plug your charger in and you should get around 14 volts if not the charger junk. You can buy a muliti meter for $5. Garnet Quote
