Brad Reams Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Finally made it out Saturday, for a few hours in the afternoon. Just fished Whippernock, and the amount of fishing pressure was pretty light. I only managed to catch 1. Didn't have my scale but somewhere between 4-5 is my guess. 1 Quote

We went to the public boat ramp this afternoon and talked to a couple of guys both said the water was stained/murky yes the guy from Illinois said murky but has I have found out over the years everyone's definition on this is different. The water temps are still in the mid to upper 60s. I think I'm going to put in at whippernock so I'm in a central location. I have a couple on spots up the lake from whippnock I want to try and if the water is not to muddied up I may run up the old river and take a shot at the swamp. 2 Quote

reb67 Posted May 26, 2020 Author Posted May 26, 2020 Well not a bad day at all. We put in at Whippernock got on the trolling took a left went up the creek for a right good ways. We picked up three up that way. Fished our way back out to the bridge fish the area from the bridge to the power lines picked up five more. The water conditions are stained with foot to a foot and a half of clarity from the Campground to the power lines. From the Campground up the creek the clarity was much less. Water temperature 70 to 72 degrees. Best five weighed in at 16lbs 1oz it took 8 hours to do it but it's the best day I've had this year. All three of these young ladies were caught in a 75 yard stretch 3.8 4.4 4.11 1 1 Quote

We are going out Saturday and with the rains coming the water will probably be muddy. Don't know if Whipponock will be dirty or heavily stained or stained. My friend who fishes Chesdin told me that the back of Whipponock can be good and it seems it paid off for you. When you came back under the bridge did you fish the bank to the left or the pads and docks to the right? 1 Quote

We caught a total of 15 bass the best 5 = 12.7 lbs and these two made up 7.3 lbs of it. I thing I have this young man hooked on bass fishing. Earlier this season he landed his PB 5.9lber and today he put 9 bass in the boat. Will have to tell you the story but I caught one over 5 and a second around 1.5 on Saturday, May 31st. Will share it with you when we meet. My boater and myself found out that there were two other tournaments on the lake yesterday but we had no trouble with our spots. As you can note above I caught a big lady and a second around 1.5 pounds. 1 Quote
reb67 Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Made it out this evening about 4 o'clock until dark with my uncle in law. We stayed in whippnock creek again the water conditions was about the same as last week except the for the temperature it was 78 to 80 degrees. We caught 12 total 8 scorable best 5 was 11.8lbs the bigges was 3.14lbs all in all another good day. One notable observation there was alot anglers on the water for a Monday evening. We saw at least 8 different boats just in whippnock creek and we talked to a couple of guys that were loading up as we were, they said that saw 30 to 40 boats on the water today. 1 Quote

reb67 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 The wife and I got on the lake around 6 am Friday morning we spent all day on the water fishing, towing my wife behind the boat on a float while I fished, swimming and just floating around on a floats watching all the people wake boarding, skiing and just running up and down the lake. The fishing was very slow we managed to pick up five the biggest one was 4lbs. The wife caught her first bass on a worm a 2.9lber. She is a moving bait "fisher" (to use the politically correct term) but she is learning sometimes they just don't want something moving so she is trying to learn new techniques. Plus the finesse worm is a good bream locator and that's her favorite fish to eat. All and all we had a great time spending the day together. It's day like yesterday that makes the other six days of the week I usely work worth it and with that said time to go get some estimates done. Everyone have a good and save 4th Quote

Brad Reams Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Sunday AM I took my canoe up to Namozine Creek. Launched on the Amelia side of 708 bridge my 1st time visiting this location didn't start well...? steep & slippery bank ended up with me in the water ? after emptying my canoe and gathering all my gear, I started fishing topwater, up the creek. I had 2 nice blowup misses, and caught 2 bass about 2# after the topwater bite quit, I fished downstream I managed to catch 1 nice pickerel, I'd say very close to citation size but I didn't weigh or measure it. and caught a couple more, and had my 20# leader line cut. on the way back in I noticed a garden hose tied to a tree and a much better launch area to get out from. good day, considering my start, and I should learn from my mistakes, to make the next trip a better experience. Nice fish. My mother in law would have loved to had that one that's her favorite fish to eat. Looks like you almost needed longer arms for the picture. 1 Quote

How to fillet Pike So you don't have to deal with all the Y bone. The only problem is if the fish isn't at least 18 in Long you don't get much meat. Quote
