Especially when they come out with a new line of Shimano sedonas that these match perfectly with. I know there's no reason your baitcasters have to match your spinning reels. I still tend to get a little ocd about silly details like that sometimes. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Yep, I think we can kiss the Citica goodbye. Glad I still have two 200E's. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 The SLX reels I have remind me alot of the Citica 100dsv reels I use to own, just a newer version with different paint job. Quote
Hulkster Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 but isnt the SLX totally plastic? the citica had an aluminum frame and was essentially a curado with different bearings, a non anodized spool and a plastic drag star. to me this seems like a bit of a downgrade?? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I think the Citica and Curado are too similar and the basic SLX makes sense until you’re ready to upgrade. 1 Quote

newyorktoiowa57 Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I agree with DVT, for a freshwater fisherman the Citica I and Curado I were identical. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Same with the Curado 200 and the Citica 200. Lots of interchangeable parts. Do not be deceived by the price of the SLX making it a cheapo reel. The drive gear and pinion gear are brass and yes, they did put a bushing on the drive shaft, but hey, the wonderful Citica 200E also had a bushing on the drive shaft and performed just great. For $5.80 cents you can replace the bushing with a bearing. I fished the daylights out of my SLX and can only say it performs on a level with my Chronarchs and Curado 200K's. I call it good old Shimano engineering. The spool capacity is the same as the Curado 70. Yes, it is a solid little machine. Quote

The SLX XT get ridden of the bushing replacing it with a bearing and also have SVS infinity. SLX replaced Caenan and SLX XT is replacing Citica in the Shimano baitcasters lineup Quote
