I've never used a Carolina rig but used a Mojo rig but that's been over 20 years ago and didn't like the line twist associated with it. I wanted to ask you guys when you use a Carolina rig for Smallies? What length and lb. test you use for a leader in different situations? What baits? Size of weight depending on depth, fishing in rock, weeds and a soft bottom? Any other tips you employ with the Caralina rig?

I run 20lb Seaguar Abrazx main line to a 12-17lb mono leader.  Weights are typically 5/8 to 1oz.  I use a Spro swivel and a thin pencil shaped weight or a phenix rockcrawler style weight.  I'm on Champlain where we have all of the conditions a bass fisherman can encounter and have narrowed it down to that set up for 99% of it.  Fish that combo from 3'-60'.

Thanks. I'll be fishing 8' to 30' as I fish small, relatively small lakes.
