Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 8, 2019 Super User Posted August 8, 2019 So, I'm looking for a rod I can toss lighter swimbaits, i.e. 6" Hud's that weigh 20z's or so..I found the Falcon BuCoo extra heavy 7'5" rated for 1/2 to 3 oz. Any of you gents used this rod ? if so what did you like or dislike about it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_BuCoo_SR_Casting_Rods/descpage-FNBC.html Quote
Fishaholic7lbs Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Havent used that particular model but I have several bucoos.. i will say when it comes to falcons there power rating is always a little softer than what it says like heavy is more of a med heavy 3 Quote

Bass Junke Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I have a 7' med hvy and it feels like a med. Really nice and light though, love it. Look at it's lure weight rating, 1/4 to 3/4. It seems pretty accurate, it is just most other rod companies would call it a med. 1 Quote
RichF Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I would also say that the Bucoos tapers are also a little different than other brands. My buddy picked me up a 7'H fast on a crazy deal and I find it nowhere near that rating. It feels like a slightly lighter medium heavy with a moderate fast taper. Like, I feel I could throw treble hook baits on it with no problems tearing them out. 2 Quote
Fishaholic7lbs Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 If you have the money You could invest in the expert line from falcons there actions are a little more legit on the higher end stuff.. cara’s also 2 minutes ago, Fishaholic7lbs said: If you have the money You could invest in the expert line from falcons there actions are a little more legit on the higher end stuff.. cara’s also Not saying the bucoos aren’t great rods there power ratings are a little softer than most companies.. Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 11, 2019 Author Super User Posted August 11, 2019 Thanks for all the input. Decided to go with a Dobyn's SB 795 Fury. Looks to fit the bill pretty good. Quote
BassKicker42 Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 What’s the best bucoo sr rod for walking topwater baits like sexy dawgs and cover pops? Quote
Fishaholic7lbs Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I actually went and bought the 7’5” a couple weeks ago to have as a braided line flipping stick.. I put one of my shimano castaic on it with 65lb power pro super slick its an awesome combo waitin for that grass bite to get hot Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted September 29, 2019 Author Super User Posted September 29, 2019 After much debate with myself..haha..I went with the Irod Genesis II 783sb rod. It has a split grip which I prefer, super light, and the action is great. Throws a 6" hud really well, I have a Tatula 200 reel on it, pretty happy so far. Quote

A 6 power 12-25 which is more like a med heavy I would say and a 7 power 15-30 which I feel confident in saying its a heavy but not like a broomstick heavy like most people think. They are really good rods for the price but I do miss the bucoo micros those were some bad rods at a good price point and were made in the good ol USA Quote
