The Dobyns 734C is what I use for spinnerbaits - chatterbaits with fluro and my favorite multi-purpose rod from Dobyns. It's a little too heavy for cranking, but great for swim jigs, T-Rigs, and senkos.

The 735CB Glass as others have mentioned was designed for chatterbaits and will suit your cranking needs better. Dobyns employee's recommended the 734C as their best spinnerbait rod over the phone.

To the original poster - you're very brave.  I couldn't do it.  Ordering a rod over the internet, based on the opinions of folks you've chit-chatted with but don't really know.  I just can't buy a fishing rod unless I've held it and flexed it prior to buying it.  Now having typed that, here's my rod opinion.  Spinnerbaits & chatter baits, I like a slightly shorter rod.  My current favorite is a 6'8" Fenwick Aetos MH/fast tip.    It has enough tip for me that I can load it up and throw a half ounce bait without too much effort.  Generally throwing these two baits distance isn't much of a factor,  I'm usually making side arm type casts.  Whip it side arm, or roll cast it - rod is more or less parallel to the water and I find that I hit less stuff (like trees, overhanging branches) when I use this type of cast.  Also it seems to me, and it might or might not be true, that I get less of a splash with the side arm cast.

To me, cranks are different, distance is more important and I'm much more likely to make two handed overhead casts when I throw them and I'm less concerned about the splash I might make.  To me this requires a slightly longer rod that has more tip to it, it loads down into the blank more and it seems I can throw the crank bait farther.  Current favorite is an All Star 7' crank stick which has more or less of a medium action.

I know this has been brought up here before and I’m sure a lot times lol

im looking for a chatterbait rod that I will also be using for spinner baits and some cranking, I’m up in Canada and don’t have a lot of largemouth around me but there are some so looking for a multi use rod to save some space In the rod locker.

right now I’m looking at St.Croix and G.loomis E6X mostly because of availability locally and saving on shipping charges.

I've done some searches on here and haven’t heard of some of the brands never mind seen them locally in stores

I bought an Okuma TCS 7' MH/MF APC and like it. End up using it also for Choppo/Whopper Ploppers as well

Yes, 8lb diameter not 8lb breaking strength

If I hadn't worked with Bombardier engineers for serveral decades your answer would be a confushing as stating 8 lb braid when you mean 30 lb braid.

Which rod to choose is your decision, Kistler and Dobyns are both good companies. The Kistler Feel N Reel series 7'3" MH is a new composite blank, Dobyns DC 735 CB has a proven track record. Gary often has factory refurbished rods on hand that customers have used a few times and traded in for another model, full garentee at reduced price. I would call Gary before ordering and call Kistler then make a determination. Make sure you tell them you are using 30 lb braid, it makes a difference especially if you add leaders the giudes need to accommodate.

I’ve also been looking at the St. Croix legend glass 7’4” MH Moderate, has anyone used one of them?

What stores have the selection of a TW tho? Also, TW has a great, free return policy.

I am a Kistler fan also, I own about eight of them. Since you said your leaning to St. Croix. Maybe check out the 7' MH/F mojo bass. It's a excellent all around rod and doesn't have the micro guides. The Kistler's are better built lighter rod but you pay 80-100 more for them. The Kistler Magnesium II's 6'10" is what Trey reccommends for spinner baits. It's a tad less expensive then the KLX's or Helium 3's.

Those reel n feels go on sale all the time. Yesterday the buy a rod get 50% off reel and feel ended. Last week it was buy 2 rods get a free reel and feel. You could have got an H3 MH for jigs and the moderate action pole for a great price. I think for your intended purposes you should find a 20% off Dobyns and get the dc735cb glass. Ebay does 20% off quite often and so do a lot of sports stores. I got the dc765cb a month ago for 20% off at sportsmans outfitters.

You will like your Curado DC, but if you are an experienced baitcast thrower, it will be the last one you buy. I don't get any extra benefits from it but I sure love the noise it makes. It will be on my skipping rod once I have one. That is the only benefit for me as I am not an experienced skipper with BCs. It will be great for you to teach your family how to throw a BC. The next time I have $250 to drop a  reel it will be a Bantam.

As far as internet shopping and in store purchases are concerned, to me its not much of a difference. I can't tell if I like a rod until I fish it. I did however rule out the mojo bass series by just looking at them in store. I would rather take 100 reviews of a rod into consideration of how it fishes than go bend the tip in a store.

Another thought... For the money you can't beat an Alpha Angler. Do yourself a favor and check out their offerings. You won't find their Chatterbound on their website because it was a special offering to people on the mailing list. If you google the Chatterbound, you will find it and they do have some left. I bet this is every bit as good as anything mentioned. Call Jake the owner up and see if it can do what you want.

I think the h3s are all fast action. The rod you linked to would be a good shakey head and weightless senko rod in open water. You dont need that kind of sensitivity for your intended purposes. The reel and feel is fine. The H3 line is for bottom contact and flipping where ultimate sensitivity is needed to detect strikes. As I said earlier, if you need a jig or worm rod wait til kistler has another sale which will probably be this week and get an h3 and a great discount on your reel and feel. Just add yourself to the mailing list.
