How does a medium casting rod rate with you guys.

Thinking about my next setup. I find myself throwing allot of rage craws with little to no weight quite often. Also rage swimmers and kietecs on 1/8 heads. Along with other plastics. A few places I fish have little to no weeds. I have a mh/f casting and and dobyns 705cb along with m/f and m/mf spinning setups. I really think a m/f casting will really  compliment the family. I almost feel like it will become my new bread and butter go to stick.

To me the rod power isn't as much about the cover as it is the baits I am throwing.   From what you described, a M power rod should be ok but I seem to have a tough time getting solid hooksets on those types of baits in anything less than a MH.  Each rod is different though so one that is more on the MH side of the M curve might be a good solution.

You mentioned Dobyns rods, are you looking at a specific rod model?

Power ratings vary greatly between rod makers and what the specific application of rods intended use.

Tatula Elite 7' AGS M/MH is my best all around rod, throws 1/8-1oz and is true to those specs.

If I get it I’m gonna get the carbonlite 2.0 m/f 1/4-5/8.  I really like the other two I have. I feel like it will be the sweet spot between my mh and m spinning.

I fish all the baits mentioned on a Carbonlite 2.0 7' MH fast tip and it works real fine. Occasionally I will throw Senkos on a Med fast tip 7' Carbonlite 2.0 in light cover, but mostly use a 7' MH.

As do I, I want another rod so I don’t have to switch up baits. I think I’ve talked myself into trying out the medium. I’m sure it’ll be a good rod to fit in the lineup somewhere.

I fish Big Bite Baits 3.5" Suicide Shad swimbaits on a 1/8-3/16oz heads with a Med/fast Diawa and its a blast. Had a older model black Carbonlite med/fast and it was a very versatile rod as long as you don't push the weights I think you'll like it

I have this rod in a 7 footer.  Fantastic!  I have a Fuego CT on it.

I really like the mh, I’m looking forward to the m. I’m gonna go for the combo with the currado k.

I'm a big fan of M power Carbonlites. My casting rigs are MH and ML, 

spinning are both medium. I love the action (though not my fav rods

in general) and highly recommend them. Have only handled v2.0 in

store. They feel just as good as prev. Assume they fish as well, too.

+1 this is my favorite rod to fish. Its stupid sensitive. I mainly throw weightless 5" Senkos with it and a Tatula SV and I always knock them dead with this combo. The lightest of the Ned rigs also throw great on this combo. I wouldn't go lower than M MH. There is no need to. This will take the lightest presentations you have and make you wonder why people use spinning gear. Its not cheap, but well worth is. I think I paid around $450 for the combo. Much cheaper than my spinning setup I rarely use for these light weight techniques.

It depends on whose rod it is. I fish a Bass pro Patriot rod 7ft medium fast for exactly what you want to fish it for and love it. I also fish it in weeds.  Still has enough backbone to do what I need. Fish 1/5 oz Ned rig on it.
