Nicholas Smith Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Does anyone have experience with kastking rods? Mainly the rods under 70 bucks. Are they as good as the youtubers like Debo’s and Kastking themselves say? Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted August 7, 2019 Super User Posted August 7, 2019 Debos Fishing doesn't appear to be sponsored by Kastking anymore. He uses a variety of rods and reels from Shimano, Daiwa and Lew's lately. I have 3 Kastking rods under $70 the Perigee II (spinning and casting) and the Calamus. All of the KK rods I have are 2 piece and they are my traveling rod arsenal. They are decent rods for the price. I have no complaints other than the fact that I had to buy these rods without handling them first. My hope would be since KK eliminates the middle man you get more rod than the cost would have you believe. For the most part this is true but I have found that I would rather buy a more expensive rod I can handle when it goes on sale. For example, the Lew's Carbon Fire rod from DSG is normally $80 it often goes on sale for half price. 1 Quote

Junger Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I have a 6'7 Perigee II, for $60 it's a good rod. Not super sensitive, but I use it for moving baits so there's not much guess work involved. The hook keeper is a little flimsy, the foam isn't the highest quality, but for $60 the blank and guides are good components. I'd buy another one if I needed to. Quote
boostr Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I like them for the money. The quality is pretty good. I have 2 7' KK Perigee II 3 piece rods a casting and spinning for traveling, and for bank fishing I have 2 6'6" KK Perigee II 1 piece rods MH casting and M spinning plus a 7' H Royale Legend, and they've been great no issues so far. Good rods for the price. Ended up buying 3 Royale Legend rods as well for my Lew's reels for the boat. Probably gonna have all Royale Legends for the rest of my Lew's reels except for the 2 I have on the Lew's Carbon Fire rods. 2 Quote
raoka Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 have a speed demon rod. id say for the price they are decent, but like others have stated above...i think i would rather just get a higher price rod on sale. usually can find rods 20% off msrp or sometimes 40-50 if on closeout. Quote
Russ E Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I have one speed demon shakyhead rod that is ok. Cost was around $70.00. it feels like a $70.00 rod. I have 5 speed demon pro rods. they cost more, but are very nice rods. I Prefer them over most other $100.00 to $150.00 rods I have tried. Quote
