This bait is advertised as a jointed jerk bait, but it is much more than that. It is not just for those Northern Pike anglers either, Bass like them too. I think I acquired mine for under $15. They are well made and their action is comparable to more expensive glide baits.

Looks decent. There are definitely affordable options for smaller glide baits. It's the big glides that the wallet unfortunately has to come out.

On this note, just as a general reference point, what is considered:

1) a "big" glide bait and

2) when you say the wallet has to come out, what price points are you referencing?

This glide bait in the OP is 7". I know the swaver 168 is 6 3/4" and the swaver 200 is 8" (at about ~$40)

I guess, how much larger than 8" is the typical glide bait thrower throwing?

I don't even own glides other than the 168 and 200 Swaver, but when I think big glide baits I think Deps 250 size baits or bigger. Unfortunately 100 to 200 or more for a new bait is not uncommon and the custom baits are the majority of your choices. And in that category you NEED dedicated gear whereas with Swavers and the bait in the OP you can get away with conventional gear or entry level swinbait gear. And those bigger glides there are few budget options, and the ones that are (baitsanity for example) are only "budget" for the category, they're still like 70 bucks.

Last year my local Ollie's had LC EPG and LL pointers for around $6 so I picked up a few. One being in a snake pattern. I haven't used them a great deal yet. But one of them is chewed up pretty good. I kind of like the more slender profile.

I think the MS MJ Herring is my favorite. I wish they made it in MS American Shad, but I've yet to see one. I think the finish holds up rather well, the lower one pictured has 5+ catches and so far only has the blemish on the gill.

I've almost bought one off Ebay on several occasions. I'm just so stuck on the Shine Glide for an affordable glide bait that I never fish anything else.

You need to get one. The Northern Perch is a good producer too. I had one, but I lost it to my son who has yet to return it.:sad-021:

Rebel Jointed Minnow. $6.00. It still works.

That looks like a nice lure, however, I prefer a glide bait not have a dive lip and one that swims deeper.

I hear you. Bill Dance did a show on the Jointed Rebel Minnow where he used a split shot to get it to do just that. Just throwing it out there as an affordable swimbait. And I have one and it does work well.

I only Have the small swaiver and it’s realistically to big for my gear. There’s just something about it that hypnotizes me, and makes me want to buy gear for glide baits.

I only just got into it the last couple years. It's definitely fun tossing even a 200 swaver on an 8ft rod. Makes my other gear feel tiny when I switch back lol.

I'm new to the terminology.  What is a glide bait?  Just a jointed bait?  I've been fishing jointed Rapalas and Rebels for years, but I've never heard them referred to as a glide bait.

From Google: "A glide bait is nothing more than a single jointed hard swimbait that swims with a wider S-motion in the water. What gives the bait category its name however is the ability to pop or pull the rod and cause the bait to careen and glide off to one side, often triggering a following bass to strike."

I don't know if I would consider the Rapala Jointed Minnow a glide bait, the action is totally different.

My Ollie's had the Pointer for $6.00 but they only had red and white. I passed and left. After I thought about it and that I could paint them I went back a few days later and they were all gone. I missed a great opportunity.

I wanted to thank you guys for showing me these.  After seeing them and seeing the price on ebay, I just knew I needed some.  I didn't realize I needed 6 of them though until I had won 3 auctions of 2 each...  sigh.

20-25 is pocket change in the glide bait game.
