casel0ad Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I have nearly the same setup - is that a '72 Starcraft? How does the trolling motor work for you with the side mount? I was thinking of doing the same thing, but not sure if I will loose alot of power. Thanks, PR Quote
Splat Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 You should rotate the head on the trolling motor so the tiller is pointed at you. BIll Quote
IMPY03 Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Thanks guys! ;D No I dont think its a 72 starcraft, my title sais its an 83' Sears V. Yeah I need to figure out how to rotate the head but my manual doesnt tell me how so I'm wondering if its possible for my type of TM?? Quote
mallardecho Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Rotating the head will be simple, one long bolt through the collar of the head that goes through the shaft. Remove it twist head 180 degrees reinstall. As for the side mount, be very careful, I have tried that in the past and could not get the motor to stay on the gunnel. I finally just built a small L shaped bracket to mount on the front for the TM. Nice looking rig, good luck with her. Quote

I might be taking her out this weekend to try out the side mount and see if it works ok, if not i guess I will have to jimmy rig something to keep it mounted properly. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 A 7 or 9 inch pedestal will make that much more comfy on the sides of your legs. The 7 and 9 are still low so it will not be tippy Quote

They make bow mount brackets for the transom tm's Quote
