School will be starting....football too.  Hunting season is right behind....with cooler weather.

What's this mean???............the lack of jet ski's...pontoons...wake boats...a sense of peace on the water.

WhooooooHoooooooo

Ice in the guides. Not a big fan.

Frozen fingers. Not a big fan.

Tying knots with frozen hands. Not a big fan.

Wildly aggressive(er) pike. Not a big fan.

I suppose the list would probably be longer if I was talking about summer though... Pleasurecraft, sunburn, sweat, slow bite, mosquitoes, SH*Tshow at the landing, slower (less fun to fish) tactics, you get the point. No season is perfect *COUGH SPRING COUGH*!

Guess I am a glass half empty kind of guy. Summer is half over what does that mean??? It means three months left to fish in these parts that doesn't involve sitting on ice :sad-027:

Amen brother. Just thinking about that myself. Right before I read this I was checking the predicted temps here to see if I’d see a little drop soon. Ha ha Im 6 weeks off on that at least.

Fall... fishing and football... it doesn't get any better than that.

I'm torn, I'm a HS teacher/football coach. My vacation is nearly over, and my only chance to fish is on Sundays in the fall. (This Buckeye doesn't watch the NFL until December)

We move out of Illinois and into Tennessee come March. I can't wait. More fishing, less taxes.

Almost time to break out my big swimbaits. I'd take two winters and give up summer in a heartbeat.

Like NYW, I become painfully aware that there are only three months of fishing left for me. I rarely deal with the jet skis et all in the summer because I'm mostly on the water when they aren't. The next few weeks until school starts is the exception.

On those occasions I do share time with other water sports enthusiasts, I follow Papa's golden rule; Do on to others as they do to me.  The 'ski' crowd likes to run the area just outside the no wake zone from shore which is within casting distance of the outside weed line on my lake. I get buzzed constantly, so I'll look for potential fish holding spots just outside that no wake zone and anchor for an hour or so.  That forces them to deal with the speed boats farther from shore, slow down and pass on the shore side, or risk a ticket if they buzz me on that side.  Other than hanging around the launch, and maybe finding a school of cooperative bass, it's the most fun to be had on a sunny summer day.

For the last month or so, it's just me and a few other die hard anglers on the water on the week-end as the hunting and football guys are gone, too. My favorite month for fishing is October, it's also the month I dread coming to an end.

Agree with all. I've always loved fall. The fishing usually picks up, and the scenery is great. This year, I'm going archery hunting with my son in law. Havnt bow hunted in a while. I'm practicing a little now. Need to practice more before October, if I plan on hitting anything. Trying for a turkey this year, with a bow

I hate wishing away parts of the year and there's other stuff I enjoy doing in the summer, but it's been brutal for me fishing wise... Bring on fall.

Over the years Columbus Day has been some of my most memorable bass days. I always take that day off to fall bass fish. Mostly if not all River Smallies days, but this year will most likely be on the lake.

We just had the hottest July on record in my area so I’m more than ready for fall. October is my favorite month to fish.

Amen brother. College football is one of my favorite times of the year. I also know that hunting is right around the corner. Go dawgs!
