TriStateBassin106 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Does anyone have any hard baits they can recommend as jerkbaits? Rapala? Berkely? Something less expensive so I don't have to spend much on a new one if any mishaps happen, really want to get into it this year as I had luck with flukes in the past. Also I mostly fish bodies of water that aren't really that deep (less than 10 feet), recommended suspending depths? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 Couple thoughts.... -Most of the time I fish jerkbaits in pretty open water and don't lose many....at least compared to cranks and other baits -What's 'cheap'? I got three Lucky Craft Pointer 110SP yesterday for under $29 shipped. To me, that's plenty cheap. Cheaper options in Rapala and Smithwick will also fish well -What's 'deep'? Most of my jerkbaits suspend between 3 and 10 feet, though I do have a few deeper ones. Quote

JediAmoeba Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 For skinny water I have a lot of luck with lucky craft 78 pointers. Depends on the forage but bluegill/perch or shad patterns. You can get 3 of these on ebay most of the time for about 10 bucks a piece Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 Unlike most other people here, I fish some really shallow flats. I've had fantastic luck with Bomber 13A lures, in chartreuse shiner and royal flush. I snap them violently, and they give me a "walk the dog"-type movement. But in ten feet of water, I'd use these only very early or very late. With the sun high, I'd use something else. jj Quote
Tizi Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I really like Berkley Cutters, 6th Sense Provoke 106X, Lucky Craft Pointer. I try to buy in perch or rainbow trout colors for my area. Quote

drscholl14 Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Strike King KVD Jerk and it's deep version as well. Caught many Spring and Fall bass and think it has some of the most erratic action on the market. 2 Quote
