FishinBuck07 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I was wondering what everyone's preferred line for throwing cranks? Mainly squarebills and medium diving? Quote

Super User jimmyjoe Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 I've used many, many lines over the years. I'm on InvisX (12 lb.) right now, and I like it. jj Quote
Tizi Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I use 10 lb. the lighter the line usually the diameter is less too. Allows lures to dive deepest. I use flouro for jerkbaits however. Flouro sinks 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 Mono, 12-17 for square bills, 10 for cranking. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 Shallow running cranks - 10-12# mono or 20#braid Deeper running cranks - 10# Yo-Zuri hybrid Quote
clh121787 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 braid to flouro leader material 100% of the time and a long leader 15 or 20 feet . 30 or 40 braid main line. 17 or 20 leader for the big cranks. 15 for every thing else. ill never go back Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 I use Sufix Siege 12# mono for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwater poppers, buzzbaits, and walking baits. Quote
Mikeltee Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The lightest line you can get away with and be comfortable with. Banging on rocks, I feel flouro gives the best resistance. Burning traps through grass, I like braid. Mono would be great for treble hooks if you don't have a parabolic bend (moderate action) in your rod, however I do so I don't use mono at all. Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I like 12 pound co-polymer (P-line) myself. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 10-12lb Sunline Natural. Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 12 lb k9 fluoro presently. It's really good cranking line in my humble opinion. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 15 lb. Seaguar InvisX or Tatsu Fluorocarbon A-Jay Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Thanks for all the responses everyone! Never really threw cranks before because I was mostly shore bound. Now that I have a boat, I have a buddy that I have been fishing with since we were kids that keeps telling me I have to throw cranks more often. Just wanted to see what everyone uses for line. Quote
Todd2 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm slowly moving to Trilene XT as my Stren supply runs out. Hadn't used XT in years but they changed the formula a few years back apparently and it handles better but still has lower stretch and is more sensitive than most monos..noticeably more than Stren. I'm cranking with 8lb. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 31, 2019 Super User Posted July 31, 2019 10-12# mono Sufix ProMix or Berkely Big Game Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 My buddy keeps telling me I need Flouro for the cranks, so was wondering what everyone else uses. I hate Flouro!!! Quote
OnthePotomac Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I to use 12lb Invizx for the those baits in the question and 15lb Invizx for all plastics and jig and pig, Quote
