KraskiBass Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Is any one here aware of the Killing Bacteria? Cause I saw a report on this and is kind of scary, one of the stories is from a fisherman and he died 2 days later. I don't know much about this but it makes me very worried, because it seems like a very serious disease. I don't fish out in the sea or in the coast at the moment, I just go to lakes or ponds, but still this could also be contaminated due to the heat...any way please let me know your thoughts on this and be careful out there, stay safe... I don't recall which agency sent out the alert as I didn't keep the email, but it was probably of CDC origin as it is on their surveillance list. All the recent cases had several similarities, the three major ones being contact with the Gulf of Mexico salt water, an open wound on an extremity, and the patient having some kind of immune compromise. The signs we (medical professional, I'm a firefighter/paramedic) were told to be aware of were patients having fever/chills, recent contact with salt water, and a blotchy purple skin lesion on an extremity with an open wound near by. Here is a link to the CDC's website for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/vibrio/faq.html Oh ok, thanks for the info... Glad you help the community :D Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted July 31, 2019 Global Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 I've heard of several cases in fresh water as well and the guy that died in Texas was perfectly healthy with a good immune system and no wounds 1 Quote

Sorry don't have any better details With all due respect Oregon Native, this is something that is actually happening in this country from New Jersey to all the way South to the Florida Keys. There is also reports on this problem in the Gulf of Mexico. That has nothing to do with 3rd World Countries...you could be anywhere in the World and probably get this disease with out knowing...the worm example that you are giving it could be also done by a deadly spider, etc... The point is that we are very vulnerable and we need to be alert and informed about this things that could be potentially a very serious disease...stay safe! Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted August 3, 2019 Super User Posted August 3, 2019 Recently had a report on the local news of someone here in Ky getting flesh eating bacteria. Quote
