Has anyone fished the Genesee river with any luck.

I have fished it a couple times and haven’t caught anything it seems like people catch fish there.

Do you have any tips or baits that could help me catch fish I would be going for largemouth and smallmouth bass.

thanks

Might wanna post this in the Upstate NY thread. But the last time I fished down there for anything other than steelhead in the cold months was late August a few years ago with a fly rod before the salmon came in. I went down being pretty clueless and figured I'd just give it a go, spent an hour or so and almost left until a smallie crushed a wooly bugger. After that I started throwing little poppers and they were hammering them. Went down a week or so later and the salmon had started to move in so the smallie action was dead. The only reason I don't fish it more often is because I'm paranoid of my truck getting broken into on the Seth Green side of the river.
