joeyd50 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I have a Motor Guide 41lb Bill Dance Edition, on the motor it says Whisper Guide, Power Plus. It runs fine but on top behind the speed control knob it get very hot, not so hot you can't touch it but really hot. Does this sound normal? Thanks Joe Quote
joeyd50 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Pulled the top off and found that there is a wire coming from the tube, from motor, a wire coming from the speed dial switch and a little white wire coming from some kind of relay. All 3 wires go into one connecter that was attached inside the top of motor but melted itself lose. I have no idea why its getting so hot, all connections are tight. Brushes maybe? Thanks Joe Quote
Bass_junky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I had a similiar T.M. (45lb) and had a similiar problem. Although i trashed the trolling motor the brushes were wore and causing the heat issue in the wiring from the plug in. Mine actually would kick out if i ran it over 10 min's on 4-5 speed. Any lower speed was okay. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 It may help to clean the connections if they are rusted or corroded..............Al Quote
