My doctor has already told me that I could feel like I'm back to normal long before I actually am so when I think I can do something that I would normally do DON'T. He knows that I'm in construction so he said my down time may be a little longer for me. Good wife, good doctor, good advice. Quote

Next step is surgery on 9/5, that is going to suck but if they can get it all at onetime I'm all in. Its still going to be a life changing thing but it sounds like I'm going to have a life to change. ? you got this ? Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 10, 2019 Super User Posted September 10, 2019 Update? How did surgery go? Quote
reb67 Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 Sorry for the late update. Sam no one should be up this early unless they are going fishing. The surgery went well the doctor did say that the deceased area was larger then expected so he removed has much as he could and took tissue samples of the surrounding area for testing. I should get those results Thursday. I was able to go home the next day as planned. I've been doing ok no real pain however very sore and tried. Having the catheter has been a bit of an annoyance but just sitting around the house it's not to bad. I've had to sleep in my recliner because laying flat on my back is just to uncomfortable. The only issue I've had so far was last night, I started running a 101 fever yesterday evening for about 3 hours the wife was getting ready to take me to the emergency room but it started to come down around 7:30 and is back to normal this morning thank goodness. All and all I'm doing good not to excited about the post surgery report but luckily for me my wife and I have the same mind set, one step at a time, we are focus on surgery recovery and then we'll take the next step. reb67 Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 The fever must have burned some brain cells I wrote the above post around 5 this morning but I didn't push the submit reply button. Quote
ike8120 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Hopefully the post surgery report will be a positive one. Good luck Quote

Super User jimmyjoe Posted September 10, 2019 Super User Posted September 10, 2019 I'm hoping for the best for you. jj Quote
reb67 Posted September 13, 2019 Author Posted September 13, 2019 Well the follow up went very well. No post surgery issues the test results on the removed lymph nodes all came back negative ? so there isn't any treatments needed at this time. However the cancer was considered stage 3 aggressive cancer so they will be keeping a close eye on it for the next couple of years. My first PSA level check is in six weeks and if it's anything other than zero I will have to start radiation treatment but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now the focus is on post surgery recovery so I can get back to work and more importantly back on the water which should be next weekend if all goes well ? I don't want to miss the fall feed up. 5 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted September 13, 2019 Super User Posted September 13, 2019 HALLELUJAH!!!! That's great news! Let me emphasize again: DON'T push, pull or lift anything even 10% of what you think is "strenuous". That includes casting, because it stresses what they call your "core" muscles. I'm hoping everything goes great for you from here on out! ? ? jj Quote
