Hello! I've read some good pointers on this forum over the last couple of years and thought I'd finally join.

I live in the Los Angeles area and I've caught a lot more inshore bass (spotties mostly) than black bass the last few years but I've been fishing more freshwater lately.

There are some nice lakes close enough (castaic an hour away, casitas a little farther) but I don't get to those too often and mostly fish the urban ponds near where I live and work, which are easy to hit up for a couple hours during the week but extremely pressured.

Anyway, looking forward to talking to people who know a lot more than I do!

Welcome Vinny..Which urban ponds do you fish..? I fish park lakes/ponds a bunch. Don't get up around L.A. much, but I use to fish Legg Lake 3 days a week.

Well I've tried echo Park a few times lately but no luck. Got a few blowups on a hollow body frog around sunset but no hookups, I think they were smaller. Gonna keep heading there after work because it's closeby and I know there are some big bass in there. But it's tough, someone told me during the summer they just start biting really late at night.

I've fished Kenneth hahn a fair amount over the last couple of years and caught a bunch of smaller bass, probably nothing over 2#. Last few times have been rough though, I keep seeing tons of them along the bank and they just ignore my baits haha it's humbling.

Any tips for when there's a lot of pressure in these shallow park ponds? I have much to learn, and it seems like echo is always packed, although I haven't been there at sunrise, which I'll try before work this week.

Used to fish a private lake in the valley where my GF's mom lives. But she's likely moving soon and I don't have a permit from the HOA, so that's pretty much over. Used to throw Texas rigs on a crappy undersized spinning combo and do really well but that was like tee ball.

I'll try legg lake on the weekend sometime, it's not far. Never fished there

At Echo, try t rigged robo worms in morning dawn or margarita mutilator..Use the lightest bullet weight you can get away with, and fish it SLOW. At Legg, same thing, only use purple or a grape color, 7" or longer works well. I like fishing the middle lake, although I've caught 5 lb bass on the south lake with those worms, a buddy got an 8.5 lb fishing the west side of the south lake. BTW, don't let this get out, mmkay..:others-288:

Thanks man! I usually throw the roboworms on a drop shot but with all the grass right now it's really annoying. I'll try the light t rig next time
