Couldnt tell you but I've been fishing with baitcasters 35 years and the tournament pro imho is better than any other reel I've used. Quote

How did the tournament pro hold up? Im not trying to be a smart Alec or anything but what do you think makes the tournament pro the best Quote
MrSmitty Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I bought a new Lews tournament pro and a Daiwa SV zillion this year. I cant speak on longevity yet but the tournament pro has exceeded my expectations so far. It holds up well against the zillion! It doesnt feel or act like it's over 100 dollars cheaper than the zillion. Quote

Mikeltee Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I have the Lew's Tournament Pro, Curado K, and the Tatula SV. The Tatula excels at finesse baits but I am a little worried that the twing system will have a short lifespan. It is also very sexy riding the Tatula Elite Finesse rod its paired with. The Curado is the best built and feels solid. The Lews casts the furthest, but feels the cheapest. All 3 are excellent reels and you cant go wrong with any of them. They all setup easily and keep their contols where you set them. Lews also has a pretty cool hook keeper built in which I really like. i have a Curado DC coming this weekend. Hopefully it doesn't blow e away because I cant afford to switch everything out to the DC. Quote

I'm primarily using it on my chatterbait setup. Tuning is easy and there have been times when I probably should have backlashed and didn't. Daiwa tatula/zillion SV is great with lightweight stuff though. Quote

And if you had to pick between the Shimano or the lew’s which would you pick ? Quote
Mikeltee Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Maybe 5-8% when I really chuck it but that brake setting is 1 click from a birdnest so with any kind of wind, I would add more brake. I would recommend the Shimano for sure for its reputation and build quality! The lews was only $99 when I bought and I wanted to try all the high end reels (for my budget). Id like to check out a 13 fishing reel one of these days as well. For launching finesse tackle I would choose the Tatula. I should have included in my OP that all 3 fit my size XXL paws perfectly but if you have smaller hands, I think the Tatula would be the most comfortable. Lews is the only one that isn't dead silent. This is not an issue for me, but it sure is for most people. I am looking forware to the whine of the DC. As far as smoothness goes, if I were blindfolded and deaf, I wouldn't be able to tell which reel was which. Get the one that is the cheapest. If the K is less than $15 more get the K. Quote
MBB Nate Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I have a tatula ct, tatula sv, lews tournament mb and a lews lfs. The tatula ct is my jigging and frogging reel. The sv does a little bit of everything. The lfs is my oldest real and has been my reliable workhorse and has at one time done about every duty you can think of from weightless flukes to throwing 1.5 oz swimbaits. The tournament mb is new to me and it just feels like a more refined, more controlled lfs and its very very small. Up until about last year nothing could touch the lfs for its price. And even at $100 if someone asked if they should buy one I sure as heck wouldn't tell them no. Quote

Jimmy Buffet Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I use the Lews Tourni Pro LFS w/ 50lb braid and it just casts light frogs like a dream. Have a Curado 200K w/ 20lb Flouro that I use for 3/8oz & 1/2oz T-Rigs & Jigs, also cast like a dream. Have a Tatula 150 w/ 15lb Flouro I use for swimjigs & chatterbaits. I bought the Daiwa and Shimano because they were cool so I wanted to use them... all my other reels are Lews, and let’s just say I wish I had more Curado K’s. I’m putting together a new flipping setup and putting another Lews Tourni Pro LFS on it JUST because of the 20lb drag and I like how it handles braid on my frog set up, but I want to put a Curado K on it pretty bad. The Curado is so smooth and just feels great in your hand. It also feels like a more expensive reel than the Tournament Pro. Quote

Nice shape frame to palm it, very smooth retrieve, great easy to adjust casting, and a really nice spool. Also there are some on eBay right now for $129.00 Quote
