I have a few that I have found - Phenix feathers, kistlers, daiwa steez and the Posion Adrena.

Is there any other brand that has rods that are considered light weight?

What weight do you consider light, under 3.5 oz ?  what action, power and length, all factors affect weight.

Okuma Helios micro guides, Shimano Cumara gen 1, Falcon Expert, Quantum Smoke (old gen), Falcon Bucoo Micro. all are <= 3.5oz for Medium power. Phenix feather like you mentioned is great. I have the 6'9 MH/F and it's 3.2oz. the Falcon Expert 6'8 Froggin/Pitching is H/F, 3/8-2oz and is 3.8oz.

Powell endurance.    https://www.powellco.com/Endurance-Series-rods.

Man sure would like to find gen 1 smoke rods favorite rods I own.

Do you have any Powell Endurance?  If so, how's the taper/tip?  I got an Okuma Helios H-F for the low weight (and great price), but it was whippy.  Endurance has a nice 6'8 MH I'm looking at for short range.

You guys know a gym membership is like $10 a month right?

it's not about not being able to lift a 4oz rod and 8oz reel combo. it's about efficiency. with modern blank design where you can achieve lower weight, why not use it? People enjoy different things too. Don't think people prefer lighter combos because they can't cast a 12oz combo. c'mon now. it's about the joy of throwing a sub 8oz combo around all day long. fishing is about having fun. if they seek a lighter combo because it's enjoyable for them, let them.

Plus, who got time for the gym when you got fish to catch?

Can't afford it. I ordered my 4th Conquest this week, an 844 to go with the 3 MH's. And another Metanium since I had the guy on the line with my credit card info already. They make a fairly light extremely well balanced rig.

And I got married this past November. Retirement is exciting and expensive.  :occasion18:

No havent used the powell rods. Surprising the heavy Helios is whippy I have medium and medium heavy and they are not whippy at all. I throw over 1ounce lures on the MH.

For light weight, I like my St. Croix Legend Elite 7' M Fast.  I had to look it up but it's 4.1oz and with a Daiwa Steez, it's super light.  I can fish it all day and not feel a thing.

You should be able to feel something with all that highend tackle;)

Maybe it's a relative thing.  Your comment had me doubting, so I put the Helios H-F on my desk flat, handle only (after the trigger so it lays flat), tied a 5 oz weight to it (would never use that obviously, simulates casting whip and gives me a larger test measurement).

I then tried a Lews Lite SS MH-F, same rod length/weight/desk, it didn't drop down as far by an inch or two, very noticeably stiffer.  I probably prefer a stiffer rod taper, and since there are no standards, it's unfortunately word of mouth on which rods run which end of the spectrum, and some people prefer one over the other.

The new Carbonlite 2.0 rods are pretty light.  Really balanced also.

If you want a rod that's really light and still durable, you're gonna spend a good chunk of change. At that price level, why don't you consider custom? You can get the light weight, at the length you want, and get the guides and handle you want.  This site has a "rod building and custom rods" forum. Try and start a thread there, asking whatever questions that you deem most important.  I did that last year, and now I've got a great custom rod that is just what I asked for.   jj

Carbonlites. I've got black and white versions and they

are excellent weight-wise.

I am going to go with the Carbonlite 2.0 rods and the Powell rods - for now. Powell during the TW labor dale sale and BPS rods when springtime sale comes around (no rush now) or whatever rod sale they have.

Everyone's suggestions were great, but the rods $200+ I see no value in. I have already been burned by $400 rods with a "lifetime warranty" only to get a $50 discount on another $400 rod. Name rhymes with KISTLER.
