Gonna try out Shimano,Need a few new reels. Really like what i see so far.Used them back in the late 80s.Going with there mid range line.Everyone i talked to said there outstanding reels.

Try fishing with a Shimano Stradic, they are great spinning reels.

Shimano is one of the best reel manufacturers there are. 

Most of my baitcasters are Shimano and rarely have I had a problem. 

 

Can't speak about thier spinning reels as I don't use them, but I'm sure they are just as well built.

I have had great luck with them over the years.  If you're going pick up some new ones, I going to suggest the Curado K or the Curado DC.  They have both been pretty much bullet proof for me.

All I fish are Shimanos. I primarily use the Calcutta, Curado and Stradic series of reels. I feel you can't go wrong with any of those three.

What's midrange mean to you, dollar wise? Also are you looking for spinning or casting reels?

Can't go wrong with either baitcasting or spinning from Shimano.

I have around 30 reels all of them are Shimano.

My favorite casting reel I have is my citica, and my favorite spinning reel is my stradic ci4+. Nuff' said!

If you're left handed, this guy is selling what looks to be a great condition Curado K 6.2:1 for a very good price.

If your looking for one to put on a rod used primarily for texas rig/jig I can highly recommend the Curado 70. They palm very well. Wouldn't use the 70 with moving baits though.

Don't be afraid to buy used.  Have seen used cronarch MGL'S for just a few dollars more

Big fan here. Stradics FI, FJ, FK, CI4+ for spinning,

Chronarch 50e for casting. I do spinning mostly, obviously.

 

Also have Spirex, Sedona reels. All good.

 

In fairness, I'm also a fan of Daiwa, but I haven't bought

any of the recent LT models (and probably won't for the

foreseeable future)....

My K I believe was $180, but my new SLX for $99 is a real steal.  Worked it hard for a day on the Potomac and could not believe its performance for that price.  I have since put a bearing in place of the bushing on the drive shaft, but even fishing with the bushing it was smooth as silk.  It is basically a Curado 70 in disguise and the spool capacity is identical.  I left the Chronarch MGL laying on the deck all day.

Shimano is all I use, even for rods. They make great stuff. I have Chronarchs and Curados for casting, Sustains and Saharas for spinning. Love them all.

All my reels are shimano except two daiwa reels, I love them all but my shimano reels I like a bit more.

 

Get a Stella
